PCR or P-01 for CC
« on: January 17, 2020, 11:07:23 PM »
How carry-able is the PCR and P-01? I have a full size and I think thats too big to carry. I was looking at the compact or the Rami for carrying, but the Rami and compact are about the same weight anyway. What do you guys think?

Both are good for carry as they have an alloy frame.  I like the PCR more for carry since it has no rail.

I have carried my PCR for over 10 years now. Best all around handgun I've ever come across. I have had guns come and go but nothing has come close to replacing the PCR.

Thanks for the info guys.

Do you guys think these guns are too big or too heavy for conceal carry?

It depends on preferences.
These pistols are double stack and some people cannot conceal such grip.
But for double stack firearm PCR and P-01 are perfect choice for CCW. Good size and light weight.

Either would make a great carry gun!  I carried my PCR for a couple years IWB very comfortably. Started carrying the P-07 about a year ago instead though and it is definitely my favorite. If I HAD to go back to carrying my PCR though, I wouldn’t be too upset at all :)

What is the full size model that you carry? Decocker or safety?

The reason I am asking is, is it a railed model or not?  Do you carry with something on the rail, or do you prefer the balance of the rail or the not rail.
That would be a prime factor for me.  As with nothing on the front,   are covered by holster.
The sights are slightly different, however I change the sights on mine to night sights.
I am not sure the PCR is available as an Omega, if you prefer a safety, over a decocker, so that would limit your choice. (P01 Omega, or steel frame model can be had with safety)

If no preference, then which can you find/buy easier, at a better deal?  I could adapt to either and a better price means more range ammo/practice.
That said, all my CZ's were bought used, first PCR, then P01, then BD.  I choose the PCR for carry and the P01 for the range/house gun, as I have one of those Mantis X things that I don't use much, but would like to take to the range and see if feedback from it, gives me any improvement.

I have a full size Decocker. I have not carried it. I am a beginner, and still doing my research. I have still have to apply for my CCW license. I don't *think* I have a use for a rails.

PCR is a great carry gun.  I carried one until I went to a Sig P365.

Lord_Balkan: I acquired a very used P-01 about two years ago. It had seen approx. 10,000 rds. and worked perfectly, but I sold it, then missed it a lot.

Between my newish PCR and a new P-01 (>I Never use rails for anything<), for guns in similar condition, if both were were available at the same time, I would own whichever gun fits well in my Remora IWB holster.

Gun weight? My Remora has No Clip: squeezed under a fairly tight belt, holding either my CZ PCR, Sig P6 (all-metal) or new Walther P99 AS.

* I jogged with an all-metal Sig P229 a few times (traded it for a P6), jogged as in actual Running on dirt trails in the woods for thirty minutes. These metal guns are very secure in a Remora with No Clip...……
but when doing so I must wear short pants with a belt. It certainly tests the holster!

Imagine the calisthenics (rolling on the floor) you can perform if your holster has one or two clips for your belt!

You mentioned the Rami. I have both the P-01 and the Rami. The Rami has a shorter grip frame and is less likely to print. Due to this reason I tend to carry the Rami more than the P-01. I carry the 10 round flush fitting magazine and a 15 rounder as a back up.
