2 malfunctions in 1 mag

Was at the range today and had a mixed can of 9mm. My Scorpion had 2 casings stay in the action while still stripping off a new round and trying to chamber it.

I'd really hope not, this is after about 150 rounds since it's last cleaning. I don't think I've ever regretted a gun more than this one. I have 2k into a gun that has broken once and had 2 malfunctions in the first about 550 rounds.

What ammo are you shooting?  The blowback in my Scorpion is off the charts compared to any thing else I shoot and my friends with other PCCs have the same thing.  If you're using particularly dirty ammo it may just be pushing something over the edge.

the ammo was a mixed can of S&B and Tula, the 2 cases that got hung up were the S&B. The mag was a PSA mag but with there being a new round halfway chambered but the empty casing hanging out in the action preventing it from going into battery I really doubt it's a magazine issue.

S&B is my goto round unsuppressed with 158gr Fiocci my suppressor round with many many 1000's of both through my gen 1 SBR'd version.

It's definitely an extraction problem as the bolt moved rearward enough to strip another round successfully.  Remove the bolt and hit the extractor again with a brush, there is some crud in there impeding 100% function.  This is really the only thing that stops this weapon is extraction as that bolt is going to move back and forth regardless.  I guess theoretically with enough time and rounds magazine and/or the huge recoil spring could weaken.

I get that same thing when using the Magpul mags and only with magpuls mags.

I'm betting the Tula ammo is at the heart of the malfunction. That stuff is so dirty that it only really functions well in AK type actions. Seems the Soviets designed some increased clearance for functioning with dirty ammo and severe operational conditions.

Never had a problem with it before in my life and have been shooting it for years. Also both shells caught up were the S&B. My PSA AR9 eats Tula like it's candy and so does every pistol I have. The problem is the gun... These guns are supposed to be known to eat anything.

Shooting mixed brass and steel cased ammo is well known to cause malfunctions. Brass cases seal (expand under pressure) the chamber in a way that reduces or eliminates particle blow back into the chamber. Steel cases do not expand to the same level. When shooting brass cases after steel, the particles left in the chamber by steel cases will cause the brass case to bind. This is why it's strongly recommended you clean a chamber after shooting steel cased ammo before shooting brass cased ammo.
