New P01 Omega... the trigger
« on: January 21, 2020, 06:34:43 PM »
So I broke down and bought a P01 Omega, taking the risk, but knowing I've made some bad P07s pretty good.  And guess what?  Yes,the trigger doth suck badly. The bad triggers are NOT confined to the 75 series but infects the Omega breed pretty badly.  Gritty and really stacks just before break - must be about 15 LBS.  Crummy.  I'll need to get to work.

But, it is tight as a drum and the slide barrel fit is TIGHT!  Nice ergos, and the decocker is a big improvement in function over the standard.

I’ve got a 2018 model and the DA is smooth but heavy and SA is slick as butter and not much over 3 pounds, it’s a bit better than my P07 that’s had quite a bit of work done to it but not quite up to the PCR that CGW built for me.

If it is as gritty and stiff as mine it will need a bunch of polishing.  Lighter springs makes it more bearable but the stacking and grit can drive one a tad nuts and lead to inaccurate DA pulls.

P-01 Omega starts to be much better shooter after full disassembly and polishing. I polished every single part that made contact with other part. Then lighter hammer spring, DA Roller from CGW, Reduced Power Trigger Return Spring from CGW and magic happened - much better pistol than it was before  ::)

I will continue polishing tonight.  Per my experience with the P07, I'll go after the rear of the TB, roller, etc. the hardest, but likely also work on the frame with 1500-2000 paper.  My experience with rollers is to polish the stock one - otherwise you can induce MORE stacking - unless of course the original is wrong.  The parts in the P01 look MUCH more precise.  I may try to use this gun as is, but polished before going CGW on it, just to see what is possible.  No gun should come with a trigger this bad.  When I compare it to a P229 ECC, it is a total fail.  It is amazing what CZ UB turns out.  But, I like the shape, form and function, so I add the P01.  Guess I am too biased.

My P-01 Omega factory DA trigger pull was horrible. Polishing didn't help with that issue. Lighter hammer spring made it better. I decided to use few CGW parts and that made DA pull much lighter and smoother.
All parts out of the box are pretty rough. Even dust cover and inside frame, where trigger bar slides on. 1500 / 2000 sand paper and Flitz (no power tools needed) do the job.

Amen - this gun will be unshootable until I get it Cajunized.  OTB, the P01 Omega trigger SUCKS BADLY - really useable.  The pull MUST be about 18-20 LBs.  These are NOT an option without CGW.  Pathetic - horrible.  That's a shame.

While mine is cajunized, it’s trigger pulls OTB we’re not bad at all, in fact it was better than my stock PCR and SP01T.
Like a midget at a urinal, I'll have to keep on my toes

Wow that's really something! You've done nothing to it yet and the trigger has gone from 15lbs at your first post to 18-20lbs just sitting there. You should get rid of it before it grows to 25-30lbs and you break a fingy on it.  :'( :'( :'(

Sorry - I underestimated - shouldn't want to disappoint you.   8)

Seriously cannot believe how stiff these are.  I think it is actually stiffer than one of my bad P07s.  Hopefully, it will turn out as good!  It is just a shame than CZ would turn out triggers this bad.  I can say this with confidence - no one should carry a trigger like this for any real purpose - it is really not useable.

Swiss or cheddar? Seriously you have no room to continue crying about how bad YOU think the triggers are on these CZ's. You keep buying them now don't you. You looked at the gun before you brought it home right? So you knew going in that you thought the trigger was unuseable right? Yet you chose to purchase the gun anyway right?
Maybe it's not the gun that needs work.

I know you can get "bad" triggers in a CZ.

My two P01 Omegas are fine.  The only mods I've done is a feed ramp polish on one and night sights on the other.

And I'm a trigger snob, for the most part.

Now, those two steel framed (SP01 Compacts) I bought a couple years ago??  Nastiest CZ triggers I've ever pulled.  Left one original and unfired and converted the other to SAO.
I just keep wasting time and money on other brands trying to find/make one shoot like my P07 and P09.  What is wrong with me?
