New P01 Omega... the trigger

Sigs are very nice guns, I have 5 or 6 of them.  They very rarely get shot since I discovered CZs about 7 years ago.  And yes, you need to tune most any CZ to get them to be optimal shooters.  I have 8 or 10 of them and have tuned them all.  When I got my P01 omega, I dropped CGW parts in and put a polish on it before I even shot it.  I've done the same with many other CZs.  Once you tune the omega, it will be exceptional.   They are hard to get.  I recommend you keep it, stop complaining about it and tune it.

You can get a new P229 for $600 if you look.  Yes regularly they are $800.  If you can nail at $600-650 your "ownership cost" is lower.  The trigger won't be hacked up.  Just saying.  I own both.

Yeah they can be found at that price. BUT! Most of them have the short reach trigger which blows and causes the same trigger sting people complain of with the serrated trigger on the CZ PCR. They DON"T always have the short reset parts in which case the reset blows and is LOOONG and springy so those parts need changing. AND they either have contrast sights or Sig Lite night sights which suck and at minimum need to be replaced with XRAY-3's. So now your $600 P229 is pushing $850-$900 before it's by YOUR standards useable.

I should say SIG P229 LEGION... this one has all you need without additional work

My P229 ECC needed nothing to be an exceptional gun.  Night sights, G10s, SRT, etc.  Added regular trigger cuz I prefer it.

I own 2 Legions and yes and no. Both are great guns but one has a noticeably better trigger than the other. The real and very serious issue with the Legion up till last year was the finish. The Gray PVD finish Sig was using on the entire line was just about the worst and weakest finish on the market and on a gun that generally sells for north of $1000 in most areas that is just not right. They did finally move to Cerakote on the newest Legions but even that is a rip off for the price point since Cerakote is really nothing but high tech paint.

Para:  I was about to throw that in - I've tried Legions with not the best trigger. There are vids out there on this - they don't have any special work done on them.  And yes, I prefer the regular SIG finish. 

My frustration is that CZ CAN and DOES put out some good triggers.  MY SR P07 and P09s came with little in terms of grit and NO stacking - none.  They were quite shootable OTB with no work and really only needed several hundred rounds through them. I just have experienced the opposite WAY too often.  Shame on CZ. 

I generally DON'T see that in other firearms.  Smooth and generally no stacking. 

This P01 is now a hobby gun.  (At least for a while).  People tend to forget that a pistol with a really decent trigger is worth $200 more than one with a crappy trigger.  Minimum.

Which is a shame because when you hold one of these your hands and eyes say, this gun will shoot!

I love P229 Legion trigger, even more than my P01 Omega with CGW parts.
I've tried P299 Legion SAO with flat trigger...this one is next level... Only the price....
I didn't know about finish issue...but I don't care... firearm is a tool...

My personal preference is to have no stacking, and reasonably smooth.  This is also objective - stacking PREVENTS one from keeping the sights steady during the DA pull - this is BAD - its NOT about preference.  I also don't think anyone performs better with a 12-15 LB pull.  That's objective.  Preferring a stacking, gritty, heavy DA pull is like preferring to eat gravel over steak.  I guess a person could.

My P01 Omega has about 8 lb DA pull, after CGW parts setup.
I've never measured P229, this one I've shot was rental...but it's been smooth and would say easier to pull than my P01...
Anyway... I prefer safety over decocker, so DA is not important for me.

8 LB is great.  Most come with 12 or more.  Mine had to be over 15.  I had a P07 like this also - it shouldn't even ship with a pull like this.  Sure - if you prefer a safety that is a wholenother matter.  But even for a restrike it is better to have a lighter, smoother pull.

I'll likely be able to redeem this thing, but CZ should do much better.  Is better worth a new SIG at $950 to me - no - that is why I buy them used or as special editions or GB.  What IS amazing is the smoothness of the SP 2022.  Light also, and 100% on hard primers.

BTW - Of CZ would have ever offered a P01 in a 75 manual safety configuration I would have bought it long ago.  You can always make them soooo smooth.

Here's an idea, what do you gentlemen think about it...?
You have a new CZ (or any brand, for that matter) with a bad trigger (hard pull, scratchy, etc.). What you do is slather the innards with Flitz and dry fire the hell out of it.  Of course use a snap cap or O-ring--you don't want to harm your little jewel.  What could possibly go wrong?

I've owned over 200 hand guns of various brands over the years including a slew of CZ's. Many "claim" after awhile the actions smooth out but I think that's more perception than fact. I've never had an action that I thought needed work actually wear in to my liking. Some get a tick smoother within a few hundred rounds but creep doesn't go away and single action pulls don't drop by half. If you want a custom action you customize it's just the way it is. I've owned very few guns that didn't have room for some improvement and many that needed alot.
My CZ's all wear the CGW Prop Package today and it's the finest thing you can do for a CZ.

By simple lowering hammer spring # you may find DA ok for you. If more needed switch DA roller and Trigger Return Spring for CGW ones.
