Really liking the P07 platform
« on: January 25, 2020, 10:05:25 PM »
A couple of years ago, I picked up a used P07 off a friend.  It had been modified with the full boat Cajun gun works Pro package but I didn’t shoot it much.  It was a 9mm and when I saw a gen 1 P07 in .40 for sale, I picked it up.  Then I grabbed a second .40 P07, with this new one being a gen 2.  Last month, I picked up a gen 2 P07 in 9mm bringing the count up to 4.

I think that I owned the first one for over a year before I realized that I like it.  The second was good but the third really cemented the gun in the collection.  Now, this now one has me thinking that the P07 has become my favorite CZ type and it’s become my most carried gun.

I do wish that CZ would put a little more focus on the P07/P09 platform and maybe come out with a subcompact version.  But, for now, I’m really liking these guns.  The new 9mm P07 has a set of Night Fision sights on order and has around 300 flawless rounds down the pipe, so it will enter the carry/range rotation once the sights are installed.

Anyone else really taken to the P07/P09 platform?  I swear, these are the most unappreciated guns CZ has in the lineup right now.

I have the P07 and the P09 (40). Both are excellent. I especially like the P07.

P07 Duty in .40 was my first CZ.  Eight, or nine??, years later it is still my EDC.  One of the most accurate pistols I own.

It led (as well as Joe's videos of shooting 100 and 200 yds.) to a P09 9MM.  It is still 8 years later, the most accurate center fire semi auto pistol I've ever fired.

That P07 and P09 led to the .40 P09.  Not quite as accurate as either of the first two but it impresses the people that fire it.  My wife tried to confiscate it one time and I had to buy her a satin nickel CZ75 Compact in order to keep my P09 .40.

Then I bought a P07 9MM.  My youngest son shot it and his very first group with it was better than he'd ever shot out of his Beretta 90-Two, so he ended up with that one.

I see threads about problems with P07s and P09s but mine have been great.
I just keep wasting time and money on other brands trying to find/make one shoot like my P07 and P09.  What is wrong with me?

Add me to the list of P07 fans !
Although my 07 was pretty disappointing upon arrival, it's become a decent shooter after some TLC ! The wife's 07 is a dream however right out of box.

I bought a P07 in .40 in the summer of '18. I selected .40 because they were hugely discounted (brand new '14 production stamp), and I wanted to try an '07 out.

It's since become my constant companion, and it's not for lack of other options.

I'm toying with the idea of getting one in 9mm.

Two P07s.  A basic one and a suppressor ready model.  Been carrying the basic for a couple of years, liked it enough to buy the second one.

Got a couple range sessions with the new one (up to 500 rounds now.).

My other has over 2500 rounds through it.  No problems so far with either, except 3 fails to go into battery with some 1990’s CorBon ammo with an extra wide hollow point.  Was just burning up the last of them, because I wouldn’t bank on them for carry after 20+ years.

Yes, I have a handful of CZ 9mm pistols.  I have the P-09, which is my favorite and sold an SP-01 Tactical, Supressor Ready to fund my second P-07.  The P-07 carries easier but I absolutely love the way my P-09 shoots.
Even when compared to my 75B, 75D, SP-01 Tactical and a few Glocks I've shot, the P-series guns are by far my favorite.

The only mods to my P-09 have been to do the requisite polishing and to add the extended firing pin with the reduced power hammer spring.  It's a really smooth shooting gun and with several thousand rounds down the pipe, I don't think it's ever experienced a failure that wasn't ammo related.

Cyanide,

I love the way the DA only hammers sit, I wish I could get the same in a DA/SA P07. I remember the custom made S&W cut down model 39's that had the same flush fit hammers, then S&W came out with the off the shelf smaller carry guns.

Come on Cajun or CZ Custom make some hammers that fit flush when decocked.

I have looking to add a polymer CZ to my collection since I shot a rental CZ-P09 at the range and loved how it shot. It being a well used range gun, would run the slide home and load a round, every time I inserted a loaded mag in. Other than that it shot like a hoot.

Trying to decide between a thread barrel CZ P-07 or a P-09. Had bought a CZ SP-01 on a whim, it simply did not do it for me. Sold it after a single range session of about maybe 100 or so rounds. It felt heavy and boring and I just wasn't connecting, I liked my Beretta M9A3 better. Will try again with just a CZ 75 and see how it does for me.

Two days ago my P07 .40 reminded me why it is my EDC.

Testing different powders (2) with 180 grain HPs in the FNS .40 4" pistol.

Towards the end of the 105 rounds I put through the FNS I got irritated and pulled the P07 out of the IWB holster and shot a 5 shot group.

Finished up the last 20 rounds of test ammo and laid the targets out.  The P07 group was 1/3 the size of the best FNS groups.  I've going to stop wasting money on other brands of pistols (at least that's what I'm saying now....)

+1 for a smaller more svelt sub-compact DA/SA version of P-07  A P-05 anyone??

I love my P-07's...got two of 'em but also add me to the list that would like something more sub-compact. Yea, I have a RAMI BD that I really like but again it's just a wee bit chubby.  So I picked up this really sweet 3rd Gen S&W 3913NL   All metal DA/SA decocker, bobbed hammer with 3.5" barrel and only 25oz. and just over 1" thick. The only issue is limited availability of upgrade Low-mount Novak sights; but Novak's had a FO front I added for $42.

P-07 was my first 9mm.  Love it and still carry it when not in need of the single-stack's smaller profile.
CZ P-07
CZ PCR - CGW
CZ 85 Combat
CZ SP-01 ODG
CZ P-06
CZ 97B

I had an SP-01 Tactical for a while and I felt the same way about it.  It shot great but was just too big and heavy to be practical.  I shoot my P-09 better and finally sold my Tactical to fund a second P-07.
I can't say enough good about the P-09 and P-07 platform.
