Shell Ejection Humor
« on: January 29, 2020, 08:37:33 PM »
I had just fired 428 rounds through my Cajunized CZ 75 Compact and found shell casings were bouncing off my head. I contacted CGW and they agreed to have me send it back for a warranty repair.

Their team fired nearly 75 rounds and were not able to replicate the problem, so they called me. They said the casing were ejecting a clear 6 to 8 feet after being fired and asked if I was shooting in an indoor range.

I said I was. They concluded the shells were not coming back but just ricocheting off the wall separating the lane to my right, then bouncing back on my head and chest. HA! I never thought of that. It certainly would explain why I was being hit a lot on the right cheek and top of my head.

Although I feel really stupid, I really appreciate how CGW backed their work. I might  spend more time at an outdoor range in the future.

Nice, glad you got things worked out. I had a 22LR shell bounce behind my glasses and come to a rest on my cheek once. Hot stuff!
Will work for CZ pics! (including but not limited to all CZ clones)

HA! It’s funny how we can so easily overlook the simplest explanation for things. At least it wasn’t anything major. I’ve never had CGW do any custom work for me but I’ve purchased parts and always had a good experience.

It was a .45ACP for me.  Nothing worse than getting a hot casing behind your glasses, quickly and safely making a 97B safe and finally being able to remove the hot casing.

When I was in the US Army I had a buddy shooting to my left.  The guy next to him cut loose with a Ruger Mk1 and Jim got a "fresh" .22 empty down the back of his shirt.

I had no idea what the hollering and dancing was about till the empty finally made it's way out the bottom of his t-shirt to the concrete.  I had to laugh, hard.  He pulled his shirt up and had one red burn the size/shape of a .22 empty on it's side and a second with the base of the case (in red) and a perfect unburnt U for UMC that used to be on some of the Remington .22 ammo just down below that.

I had to calm him down so there was no butt kicking going on at the pistol range.  He was really upset with that guy.

Met a guy down at Ramseur with a funny looking scar on the side of his neck.  He told me during a timed fire stage he had a hot/burning sensation on the side of his neck and figured he got hit by a .308 empty from the guy to his left (prone, timed fire).  When he'd fired his last shot of the stage he got his arm out of the sling and reached up to his neck to see how tender the burn was and found the empty was stuck to his neck.  That's real concentration right there.  Ignoring a hot .308 case stuck to your neck.
I just keep wasting time and money on other brands trying to find/make one shoot like my P07 and P09.  What is wrong with me?

I once had an M&P 9c that I needed to make sure I kept my mouth closed when firing

At the range today the person next to me had uber long arms. Kinda put the pistol on the range side of the booth. I was getting his spents bouncing off my right side divider and hitting me. Personally, I thought it rather humorous. Didn't last long, so really wasn't worth mentioning.

Now, that would get your attention.

All of my CZ handguns really sling brass (as they should), but I have had the pleasure of ricochet off the wall into my head experience! Not fun!  8)

Had this happen to me. Now that I think about it. It has only occurred at one of the three indoor ranges I've used.

Maybe the size and material of the shooting stalls is also a factor.

I shoot at an indoor range every week and will occasionally find a piece of spent brass in my left chest shirt pocket. Last week I found 3! I guess thats good because I am being consistent  ;D
