Range Day From the Past
« on: January 31, 2020, 05:28:37 PM »
While searching out some info I wanted to comment on, I came across a bunch of photos that I thought I would share just for fun and to pass some time. I joined a private club a couple years ago that hosted long range F-Class matches monthly and later included mid range matches on the Saturday before the long range match. Being a member gave me access to the range with very few limitations and I enjoyed the use of the facility a LOT!  I didn't want to use their equipment for my shooting so I made my own portable target stands and frames and set them up each time I went. The only drawback was that it required driving down to view the targets after shooting a string, usually ten at a time. The range had firing lines at 600, 800, 900 and 1000 yards, so you can understand the need to drive to the targets.

This target was shot with the 223 Savage that I shared in another post with the target at 100 yards. This target was shot from the 600 yard firing line. I had a difficult time getting on paper because I had never shot that distance with it before, it was a little windy, and the little 223 round didn't make much of a splash for my spotter to pick up. It took several tries to get this, but in the end I was happy to see what it did. The stapler is about 7" long.
