New Holosun 407/507K direct mount to 75 slides?
« on: February 02, 2020, 11:17:08 AM »
Holosun just intro'd the new mini-micro 407K and 507K Red Dots at SHOT SHOW 2020.
Because they have a smaller footprint same as Shield RMS RMSc and Romeo Zero, they should be able to be milled to direct mount on the narrow 75 slides without a plate, fit between stock sights without removing, and sit low enough to utilize stock sights for lower 1/3 co-witness. It looks to be a well thought out optic.

The only drawback is the manual brightness setting only. Not the best option for a carry gun.

Depending upon your situation, I've also heard arguments in favor of manual adjust vs. having absolutely no control auto-adjust only. Ideally, having both options would be good.
If it's manual adjust only IMHO crank it up, too bright and a little dot flare is better than not bright enough in sun or WML washout. Just my 2cents.

When they finally come out, April I think, I'm planning on having  my P365 milled for the 407k.
Let's go Brandon!

+1^^^^^
I ordered the first day the 407K was listed for sale. But, it could be a longer wait due to Corona-virus stalling production in China. My order now says 'May'.

I've ordered an extra P365 slide assembly from SIG (also backordered) and as soon as Fabricated Arms has the exact mounting stud specs from Holosun, I'll send my existing slide off for milling and Battleworn Cerakote.

I'm confident the 407K will be worth the wait.

Because the Holosun 407K is same size as the Shield, it should be able to mill for direct mount between the stock CZ-75 tritium sights like this Shield RMS on my P-01. Once the 407K's are available, I'll probably replace the plastic lens Shield with the more rugged glass lens Holosun.

Waiting, waiting, waiting....

P01 (the black one) is also waiting.

Get that one done, see how it works out, then maybe consider another one.

Before you jump.  Try to find out whether red or green shows up best for your eyes.  I bought a scope awhile back that has both options.  The red shows up fine for me, the green is pretty well a waste of 5 notches on the adjustment knob.  Very similar to the green/red dots on the DI RMRs on the P09/P07.  The P07 (amber RMR) works great for me.  The P09 (green RMR) is usable if the light is just right, if not, the dot virtually disappears for my eyes.  I am not color blind, at all.  My eyes just do better with amber/red/orange.
I just keep wasting time and money on other brands trying to find/make one shoot like my P07 and P09.  What is wrong with me?

If you look at the blueprint drawing from Holosun, it's 0.98" wide at the buttons. Looks like it is wider than the RMSc, but not quite as wide as the RMS full size. Kind of a weird in-between size.

I'm STILL waiting for a 407K I ordered Feb 5th, but word from Holosun says they're shipping this month.

Meanwhile, I had Fabricated Arms mill my P365 with the new pattern (they got directly from Holosun) that's supposed to fit. My understanding is it only requires two lugs and they might not be as tall, but otherwise should fit onto pistols that are already micro-optic ready for the Romeo Zero and RMSc like the P365XL, SA Hellcat OSP, Walther, etc.  I mean, why would they make an optic that won't fit the #1 selling micro pistols?? Now, whether they'll retro-fit older mill cuts like my P-01 with RMS without any modification is another question. But If you're starting from scratch it should work like this. I'll of course confirm as soon as I get my paws on the 407K:

Nice! I can't wait to see it mounted up.

I did hear that some guns like the Hellcat won't fit the 407k.

My comment about width shouldn't really affect the milling pattern, since that's more about length and depth and bolt pattern. It was more about people who don't like the over hang you see when you put on a sight wider than your slide cut.

Definitely nice to see these optics are getting smaller...any word on whether or not Aimpoint or Trijicon is planning to make something with a similar footprint?
