First CZ
« on: February 16, 2020, 06:50:03 PM »
Just bought my first CZ  (CZ 75 Compact) last week, installed TFX pros on it today and fired it for the first time. At 15 yards it was a one inch group about 3/4 of inch to the right of the bullseye, and I decided it's not worth another session with the sight puller. When I first got it I was disappointed as to how hard it was to rack and how much I had to stretch to fire it double action, but I got a few tips that changed everything, i.e., rack the slide after you cock the hammer, and don't fire double action with the hammer all the way down. Plus after about 20 rounds it racks really easy. What a great gun!!

Congrats - you've made a fine choice!

The effort to rack will definitely ease up a bit over time. I'd also highly recommend the moly-grease available from Cajun Gun Works for the rails: https://cajungunworks.com/product/ss/

Also, keep in mind that like most European guns designed for law/military use, CZs are sprung for handling higher-pressure NATO rounds. Unless you're shooting a lot of +P ammo, you could consider a slightly lighter recoil spring. I have a #14 recoil spring in my Compact and I've had no issues with it shooting typical range ammo and normal pressure defense rounds. It's a cheap thing to try anyway, and if it doesn't work for you, you can always go back to the stock spring.

And yes - pulling the DA trigger from the fully down position takes a fair bit more effort! Half-cocked (decocked) is easier.  ;)

Enjoy the new pistol!

Congrats on a great pistol.   As others have noted, the more you shoot themthe smoother they get.  Imho the best pistols for the $$ ever.   My Rami is for more gun than the one it replaced that cost almost twice as much.   My Shadow 2 will outshot my buddy’s $3k+  custom 1911 with either of us shooting them side by side.  Switch shooters and guns and CZ still wins👍.  I love it (him not so much as he dropped almost 3 times the $$ as I did😊)

Congrats !
Great choice.
And do not worry about hard racking... you get used to it. Or use #14 recoil spring  :D
To be honest.. I tried #14 spring and came back to stock #16 flat one. I'm not sure if I became OK with hard racking or it lightened after few thousand rounds, but now my P-01 is very easy to operate.
DA shooting is going to be fine after you switch hammer spring to #13 and use CGW DA roller.
And you are right: "What a great gun"  ;)

Isn't the roller only for the Omega?

I just bought a new CZ 75D Compact two days ago. My first CZ.  I have put over 200 rounds through it so far, 115 FMJ and 124 JHP and it shot it all without any issues.  I absolutely love this gun.  This will become my new EDC replacing my Glock 19 Gen 5 that I carried for over two years. I have been wanting to switch back from striker fired to DA/SA hammer fired, metal frame guns.  I was considering a Sig 229 but when I found this CZ at my local gun shop and held both, I liked the CZ better.  I have heard good things about CZ.  I think you made a good choice also.
