Mec-Gar magazines
« on: February 20, 2020, 08:55:31 AM »
I bought some Mec-Gar 17 round magazines for my new Shadow 2 and am quite pleased.

Side by side comparison of the Mec-Gar and original mags that came with my S2. They are almost identical.
Build quality and materials used seem to be on the same level. For the price, I really had not expected this.

I loaded all six of them and headed to the range. They performed as expected. No FTFs or any other malfunctions.
Going back again tonight and will post here if there are any surprises.

Mecgar makes the factory magazines, so why would you be surprised?

As far as I have ever been able to tell the followers are the only thing that may be different between the 2.  IE the CZ mags with plus 2 bases hold 18 rounds while the Mecgar mags will hold 19.

Plus one for Greg Cote pricing.

When did it change from "We the people" to "screw the people"?

Why use 911 when it's faster to use 1911 or 9mm?

Yep not surprising at all. Mec-gar makes factory mags for many gun manufacturers. Never had any problems with any of them including their mags for 1911’s which can be pretty persnickety.
As was said, Greg Cote is THE place to buy mags!

Here's a thread on Mecgar mags for the CZ 75. I believe Mecgar makes CZ's OEM mags.

I concur with the praises for Mec Gar and Greg Cote LLC.

I only use Mec-Gar mags in all my guns, CZs, 1911s, Sigs and I only buy them from Greg Cote. Greg is THE mag man!

Mec Gar and Greg Cote are both excellent. Anybody else get a little OCD with their mags and insist on having the same base plates for all mags of a certain model or size? Maybe just me...

Greg Cote is a main go-to place for Mec-Gar mags but this place has even better prices I believe. I have bought from both Greg and AeroSpace arms and both are top shelf !

That's an excellent price, but Greg Cote has free shipping, so cheaper in the end.

Greg has FREE shipping if you BUY selected items not Free across the board! His is a $6.95 flat rate for 1 mag or 20 and that's cool. The Aerospace Arms is $9.95 across the board also. It is more but not bad and his price on Mec-Gars is pretty hard to beat although the full-size mags are very similar in price between both places!  Do the math I guess guys and see what's best for you, both are great 1st rate suppliers.

Did they used to offer free shipping across the board?  It's been a while, but I know the last two magazine orders I placed with them had free shipping.  I just assumed that was still the case.
