Finally finished my P01
« on: February 25, 2020, 10:46:01 PM »
I found this awesome P01 CZ custom SDP at my local gun shop. The only issue with it was the Hienie straight eight night sites it came with.
My other carry gun has an RMR on it so the slide was off to Cajun gunworks to have it milled for RMR.
They did a great job. I opted to not have the rear iron sited mounting plate as I feel it clutters up the viewing window. CGW also installed a suppressor height front site but I removed it and reinstalled the standard front sight as it too was a distraction.
I’m good without backup sights!
Streamlight tlr7a with Tier1 holster is a perfect setup.

Very nice. I am contemplating having one of my P-01's milled for an optic... but I fear that once I do one, I will want to do the other...... ;-)

Nice.  Is that a CGW mounting plate?  I had mine done at Primary Machine and they manufacture something similar without the rear BUIS.  P01 with RMR is like cheating, super fun gun to shoot.

You will  ;) I had CGW mill my SP01 for an SRO. That lead to me sending them my PCR to be milled for a Venom and my P01 will likely also be milled. And heck, my p10C was milled for a 507c (and given an awesome camo cerakote job) by Primary Machine. Red dots rock.

Raptorman - nice P01!

All my guns have dots as well, much better IMO. I bought a P10c last week and it’s already off for milling and framework.

The SDP version of the P01 from CZ Custom is an incredible shooter! With an RDS attached, this is cheating. Enjoy!

Strange thing is that when I got the P01 back from Cajun gunworks,
it had a different firing pin retaining pin in it. The retaining pin from
CZ custom was a solid pin, the pin from CGW is a standard pin.
I called CGW to get more info and they said it doesn’t matter what kind
of pin you use, it will fail eventually and it’s better and cheaper to buy a bunch
of standard pins to replace it.
What do you guys think?

The CGW pin is better than factory pin.

I have thought about putting up a poll on the pin issue.  From what I see, all the guns that CZC does, use the solid pin that is unidirectional.  The CGW kit, somewhere I have seen, says the kits warranty is void with use of the solid pin, because it can cause peening on the firing pin.  The hollow pin they view as a wear part.

I would rather replace the retaining pin than the firing pin.
But I guess it's your choice of which one you want to prioritize.

Maybe it's about how it fails?

Perhaps with a solid pin you could peen the firing pin and wear it away, allowing it to protrude farther than intended. Perhaps not a big deal.

With a hollow pin if it breaks, the firing pin may jam up, rendering the gun useless.

Yeah, so I try to do all my dry fire practice with an O ring.
I Just need to remember to remove it when I’m done and not
put it away live.
