New SP-01 quality control
« on: April 03, 2020, 07:08:19 AM »
Purchased a new SP-01 online after selling an old 75b. Received it at FFL today, looked at it and proceeded with transfer. Got home and noticed a dent in the frame near the magwell. It looks like this is a factory issue as there is no scratch. What do you think happened here?

Really? I figured if it was dropped or hit something hard enough to dent like that it would have scratched which led me to believe it was done before it was parkerized.

Yeah looks like it was dropped or slapped into the corner of something. The finish is poly coat not parkerized and yes you can dent it without breaking it much the same as you can dent your vehicle without breaking the paint. Such a glaring defect how did you miss that at the FFL?

I wish I knew. I looked the gun over, check slide action, DA and SA, and somehow did not see this. It's pretty frustrating but I have reached out to seller and to CZ to see if there is anything that can be done.

Wouldnt it need to be hit really hard or on something really sharp to do this to steel?

That's funny right there, but it must be horrible it just hurts my eyes too much to figure out what you are talking about.
I hope what ever it is you get it worked out. SP-01's are very nice guns

Heh, that is what i was thinking.  ;D

Sorry that your new pistol is dinged though OP. While it is a bummer to get a new pistol with an imperfection i would try to put it to the back of your mind and shoot the heck out of it. You will add your own dings in time.

Update: reached out to the seller and to CZ via email last night and both said it was a manufacturer issue and would be happy to replace. Shipped mine out today at no cost and receiving a new one. I totally get this is a tool, I have plenty of firearms and most of them are covered in dings and chips, but I put all those dings and chips there. Anyways thanks to CZ and a very reputable online dealer I will be getting a new  SP01 so I can beat the hell out of it next weekend.
