Just bought my first CZ!
« on: April 05, 2020, 09:27:28 PM »
I have been shooting my brothers CZ sp 01 for a few months now. I love it! So smooth. Well I got my tax return back and decided to buy a brand new Shadow 2 Orange of my own. I got it for just a few $ more than a new TSO(which I really want). Great deal I feel. Anyways what are your thoughts on my selection? I can't wait to shoot it tomorrow and forever!

One thing I might change are the grips. Not sure the flashy bright orange is for me.  I just may sell them and buy some Lok grips with the palm swell and orange liner to keep some orange there. Any idea what the OEM orange grips are going for?? Or is anyone interested?

Any suggestions on future mods I might be interested in? Magwell, light, red dot etc? Any advice is much appreciated!. This will be the first of many CZ's for me I feel. I'm 35 now. What took me so long?!  :)

IMO, the Shadow 2 Orange needs nothing.  It's outstanding just the way it is.

My recommendation is to shoot it, gain a feel for it in your hands, determine the best ammo for your particular gun before considering mods. Once you know your gun, then you’ll know and later appreciate your mods.

Congrats on a good purchase- one that’s on my dream sheet
Like a midget at a urinal, I'll have to keep on my toes

The trigger on the S2O is better than anything I own. My 1911 is close but still falls a bit short.  I will have to get used to the short slide but I know I will figure that out quick. The low bore axis is amazing and I love the weight of the gun. CZ really knows how to please a person!

As others have said, no need to think about mods. Get it ti the range and shoot it! Congrats on your first CZ! The second one is not far behind.

Let me agree and disagree.  No, it doesn't need to be "tinkered with" a whole bunch, it is great out of the box.  But the DA is sill pretty heavy and for about $30 you can make it 5.5 to 6lb.

I'd get an extended firing pin, 12lb Hammer spring, and 2075 firing pin spring (reduced power) from CZC and put those in there.

Thanks for the advice. Is that something I could do myself easily? So should I have bought the TSO instead? I was really torn between these 2. I just got a really good deal on the S2O

Would you consider selling your orange grips ?

I just might. I hear they are harder to find than other colors. I'm not sure what they are worth. Still brand new in the box right now.

Agreed, there are plenty of YouTube videos out there and help here. It’s a great way to get in there and really know your gun.
