New P-01, damaged already **Updated with pics of CZ repair**
« on: April 10, 2020, 06:27:13 PM »
Just got my new P-01 today and while disassembling for initial clean and lube, I noticed this. Has anyone seen this before? I can't imagine it's normal.

That's the marks from a hardness test I believe.

How does it shoot?

Not the hardness tests I've seen.   Those are real big.

Haven't shot it yet. Just noticed this when I got it home. The metal on the polished area is raised quite a bit.

I'm definitely no expert, but it looks like it might have happened when the factory installed the extractor pin.

The pin that holds the extractor in place is staked on the bottom/inside of the slide.  Wouldn't want that pin to start moving downward while you were shooting the pistol.  That's the spot closest to the ejection port in the slide.

The second one, more to rear serves no purpose and may be a boo boo.

My P01 Omega has a small burr on the corner of the center section of the slide, like the OPs pistol, but not nearly as big/rough as his appears to be.
I just keep wasting time and money on other brands trying to find/make one shoot like my P07 and P09.  What is wrong with me?

I appreciate the feedback. I think I'll wait until I can get in contact with CZ before firing it.

I'm not an expert either.
But looking at the slide my first thought is - this part was manufactured and assembled on Monday, after long weekend full of vodka, gin and whiskey... Look at the edges of the slide  :o
If I were you I'd return it. I just hate sloppy work  :-X :-\

I just checked mine.
The mark closest to the ejection port matches mine.
Mine only has a single mark there.

You’re doing the right thing by contacting CZ to give them a chance to address it. When it’s all said and done you can always sell it and buy a better quality clone. ;D Just kiddin around. ;)

I'd contact CZ and send them those pics and see what they say. I would say whoever staked the extractor pin in was a bit ham handed at that moment and they did nick the pickup rail in 2 spots in the process which is really sloppy work.

Unacceptable. Send it back. I know it's a drag to have to return it but you deserve better for your hard earned money.

Thanks again for the input, everyone.  It's on its way back to CZ now, so I'm curious to see how they handle it.  Hopefully at least a new slide with the same serial number.  I'll put the results here when I get it back in case anyone else has this problem.

You won't get a new slide with the same serial number, they don't roll mark them and CZ won't reproduce an already used and sold number. They will likely do one of three things.
1. Determine the marks are no issue which I doubt they'll do.
2. Polish out the damage and return the gun. Definitely a possibility.
3. Replace the entire gun. CZ is good about replacing entire guns sometimes even over seemingly minor issues.

I can confirm number 3 from experience. I bought a P01 Omega UG/SR new. The night sights were dead after my first range trip. I sent it back to CZ. They had it for a couple weeks and called me to say they were waiting on getting more supressor height night sites. I told them no rush. Then at the 6 week mark they called and let me know they still did not get more sights, so they were sending me a new gun. CZ will take care of this I am sure.
