P-01 Custom Worth It ??
« on: April 24, 2020, 07:06:24 PM »
Our local range just opened up, and I looked at two guns.  One was a Ruger PC Charger PCC, the Other was a CZ P-01 Custom.  First, I was drawn to the Ruger, but thinking it over at home, the CZ started to make sense.

I already have a CZ Evo Scorpion, and it seems very well suited for home and area defense.  I'm not sure the Ruger will really add to it.

As for CZ pistols I have a Shadow 2, a 75 B, and two P-07s.  I have thought about a P-01 many times.  The very best is the Shadow 2, but it really isn't well suited for anything but range use.  First, it's just too big and heavy for me to want to carry.  Second, with a 2 Lb SA trigger, the trigger is just too touchy.   A DA trigger with Decocker would be much better.

The two P-07s are a much better size and weight, and the DA Omega triggers are just about right for carry.  But, at times I wondered about a metal frame P-01.  I even wondered if it would be better if I sent it off to have some custom work done.

Well, the P-01 Custom has already been through the Custom Shop, but it costs $ 1,350.00.  I was first turned off because it doesn't have a Ambi Decocker, and I'm left handed.  But, all my P Series Sigs are the same way.  Just decock, then holster.  It's ready for business.  Who cares which side the decock lever is on?

On the surface, it seems to be just what I want.  I'm starthig to think of it as a "Baby Shadow" with a Decocker.  But I can't seem to find much information on it.

Does anybody have one?  Is it worth the money?  Is it well suited for carry?  Would I be just as happy with a standard P-01 at half the price?

I bought a Cajunized P-01 and have alternated between it and my Cajunized P-07 for every day carry.  I like the P-01 way more.  I shoot it better and it just feels way better to me.  My only issue with carrying it daily is that I don’t want the wear and tear on it, so I alternate weapons.  At this point the P-01 os my favorite handgun.  I didn’t pay$1350 for it, but know I appreciate it more like this than I would if it were stock.
