Mag question
« on: April 25, 2020, 01:30:34 PM »
I have a CZ 75 compact I just started shooting again. I noticed that when I remove a magazine from the gun with rounds still in it, the top round is sometimes pushed far enough forward in the mag to cause the mag to hang up. It happens with both 14 rd factory mags. Also tried different factory ammo, no difference. There is no problem with function, or feeding. Is this something to be concerned with? Thanks

Nothing to worry about. You can experience this with MANY pistols. Walther PPK's will do this so bad that the top round in the mag will often fall out upon removal.
What many people do is to polish the pickup rail on the underside of the slide to make it move more smoothly across the top round in the mag. Often polishing improves and even eliminates movement of the top round.

Some folks tell it is because of feed ramp construction... However I don't buy it.
I've got this problem on my Rock Island 1911. But I know it stared doing this once my gunsmith adjusted magazines lips to fix other problem  :-X
Nothing to be concerned with. All functionality intact.
I will give a try the method with polishing pickup rail mentioned by SI VIS PACEM PARRABELLUM

Thanks for the replies ! I will polish the rail but it sounds like it is not a concern. This is my first CZ so I wasn't sure what to expect !
