Now I'm up to five CZs. Shadow 2, 75B, P-07 x 2, and now the P-01.
I didn't consider carrying a CZ till I got the first P-07. Then I bought a used one with threaded barrel and milled with an RMR. The P-07s aren't fancy, but are extremely function. I kept seeing the P-07 vs P-01 threads, and figured I would pick up one in Omega, if I ever found one.
My gun range opened up Saturday, and the owner showed me the P-01 from the Custom shop. It was definitely impressive, but so was the price. However; I did research it that night. It was very hard to find info on it, and took me two days.
It starts life as a basic P-01 Decocker. Then the Custom Shop works their magic.
Starting with the lightweight P-01, Angus’s crew at the CZ Custom Shop installs a competition hammer modified to work with the decocker, polishes and smooths the firing pin block and tunes the trigger to 3.5-4 lbs. in SA and 8.5-9 lbs. in DA. Riding atop the slide are tritium sights with a Heinie Slant Pro in rear for low drag. Custom interior parts like a solid firing pin stop and trigger pin, extended firing pin and a stainless steel guide rod complete the package.
It includes a "before" and "after" test target. The one I saw on line went from 3 1/2" to 1 1/2". One guy referred to it as a "Baby Shadow2". That caught my attention. I would never carry my Shadow 2, but a "Baby" version...
I started thinking, I almost bought a Sig P229 Legion, this gun was much more than a Legion. So, I bought it.
The trigger really does feel like "magic", the test target says DA 9 lb, SA 3 lb 4 oz. But my Lyman says DA 6 lb 15 oz, SA 2 lb 2 oz, the trigger feels more like my Lyman. It really is comparable to my Shadow 2. I haven't shot it yet. I broke it down and cleaned/lubed. Good thing, it was almost dry. The test target was 1 1/2" at 25 meters, and looked like two groups with all shots touching. No way for me to check it out, I'm just not that good.
"Insert Image" just inserts the [IMG] brackets, I don't see any way to directly upload an image. And I don't do "Photo Hosting" sites anymore.
