452 Varmint?
« on: May 13, 2020, 07:16:03 PM »
Just swapped for a 452 Varmint, but haven't picked it up yet.  Was going to order a pic rail mount system for it, but I was told the 452 varmint model has different size dovetail than standard 452's???? Is this correct, and if so what size is it.  Don't really understand why they would be different.  I have a 452 17HMR and a 452 American.

The CZ 452 Varmint is suppose to have 3/8" dovetails in 17HMR/22Mag and 11MM dovetails in 22 L.R. the Full Stocks are similar. The 452 Americans are suppose to all have 3/8" dovetails. As to why there different on the Varmint model and Full Stock 452's I've not a clue. Depending on your new rifles caliber will determine what rings/rail. DIP Products list rails in both dimensions as do others I'm sure.

thanks,,..it's a 22 LR.  I about had it figured for a 11mm.  I appreciate your post helping me out.  I have been shooting and reloading for years and years.
Just started really getting into 22's last 2-3 years.  I've always had a few, but just went crazy lately.  We farm and ranch here in western Oklahoma and also have a hunting lodge.  I used to make a prairie dog trip every year, but seems like the good shooting towns are drying up.  That's when I got my first cz 452 17HMR for PD's.  Now have added 3 more in 22LR.  Really like my 457 varmint, so when I got a good deal on a 452 varmint, I jumped on it.  Have a blessed day.

I've not had any of the 452 Varmint series rifles but have dealt with the same issue in the Full Stock models. Personally  I have been acquiring them for a while now, I figure that CZ's are like dust bunny's they just seem to accumulate. Good luck with yours.

I love mine, shot it today in fact :D

11mm on mine, it has a leupold 3-9 efr, and it is awesome for three position rimfire sporter matches.

I have two 452 Full Stocks in 22 L.R. a 452 Lux and a 455 Full Stock in 17 HMR these are all 11 mm dovetails. Then there are three 452 American models in 17 HMR, 22 L.R. and 22 Magnum and a 452 Full Stock in 22 Magnum all 3/8" dovetails. Some times scoping a CZ rifle can feel like chasing your own tail. CZ had the right idea when they standardized the 11 mm dovetails with the 455 series. Keep life simple.

Top rifle is the 452 Lux in 22 L.R. with those QD mounts so I can use the sights when the urge occurs.

Eastman, you made me think and that always hurts my head. It use to be on rimfire (dovetail) scope mounts the movable part of the dovetail clamp that's tightened by the screw was reversible. One side fit 3/8" or you could loosen the clamping screw and spin the movable part 180* and have 11mm. They seem to have gotten away from this duality now. The 3/8 " (9.5mm) was a standard but it wasn't 11mm for the other, may have been 12,13, 13.5, 14 or 14.5mm, one of those. Things change.
