Super brief intro- new here to CZ, and a new Scorpion carbine is waiting for me to pick her up
Duty will be plinking, targets and irons on my property at less than 50 yards where we shoot pistols, and at the range someday I'm sure. Don't see competition happening. Possibly home defense use, though my pistols without optics have that base covered pretty comfortably.
58 year old eyes that need 2.0 readers, and use (upper) bifocals for shooting, no astigmatism. Briefly pondered a 3x, but it's totally overkill for my usage/range.
I'm still toying with the idea of whether or not I'm going to commit/limit myself by making co-witnessing with factory irons a factor in my red dot selection. Thought about something like a HS 510C, but don't want to commit to that as a stand alone optic. Love the idea of bigger glass though. I think I like green reticles, but can be flexible on that one. Like circle dots.
First, are there any 30mm optical red dots that can fill the co-bill?
If no, which 20+ mm ones can given the low factory sights? Suggestions? 503CU-GR vs Romeo5xdr? Any open reflexes that can co-witness on a Evo?
If if just too limited, I may throw in the CW towel and use a riser that at least allows iron sight use underneath.
Budget up to around $300 fwiw.
Thanks for the insight. Sorry if sounding like a newb, but I am LOL
