Killer Innovations BBL
« on: May 24, 2020, 02:04:06 PM »
I was very interested in buying a Primary Machine drop in match (threaded) bbl for my P10c.  Unfortunately, they have been unavailable for quite some time.  I did find Killer Innovations bbl's in stock and wanted to know if anyone is using these.

My biggest curiosity is whether or not it will increase accuracy the way the Primary Machine barrels were demonstrated to.  I definitely need barrel threads BUT if I could get enhanced accuracy along with them, it would be a plus.

Where I am stuck is - buy the K.I. or keep waiting on P.M.

So..... any of y'all actually have the K.I. barrel? Bench it?  Notice a significant difference?

If you can deal with the gold.

I've never had a KI product but will be looking to get one at some point probably for a p10s since there isn't a factory option yet that I am aware of. Just waiting for the p10s comp and maybe a sale [emoji41]. I like my PM barrel fine, I've had just as good of results with my p09 factory barrel tho, I am comparing 2 totally different guns and barrels tho

The feed ramps on both the primary machine and KI are shallow and based on the original design. The newer OR barrels have a deeper cut in the feed ramp.

I was having rounds get caught up on the edge of the barrel when being fed (Primary machine)

I have a KI barrel brand new, but I have yet to try it on my P10F because its the same feedramp as the Primary machine.

Also side note there are very very very few people that can out shoot any factory barrel. I've seen the ransom rest primary machine barrel video. I'm not saying the barrels aren't better, I am saying I'm probably not a good enough shooter to be able to out perform either. My factory ppq barrels tend to group better than pretty much all my czs be it factory or pm, but maybe I just shoot the ppq better.
Unless you are an extremely experienced and trained shooter don't buy an aftermarket barrel for "accuracy" improvements

More to accuracy than the barrel.

I have a pistol, or three, that shoot awesome groups.  I use them as standards to compare the other pistols, too.  If you see my range day reports you know I use the P07 to show me if the bad day I'm having with a non-CZ pistol is me or the pistol/ammo.

I bought an Apex barrel for my M&P 2.0 5" FDE 9MM.  It shrunk the groups, but not to P07/P09 standards.  Not even close.  One of the guys on the M&P forum suggested replacing the locking block in the frame where the barrel/take down lever attach.  He said some M&P's get out of the factory with out of spec locking blocks and replacing that in one of his pistol helped a lot.  I've got it, just gotta get it put in and get back to the range.

I don't think I've ever heard of guys on the forum here replacing the locking blocks in their P07/P09/P10 pistols, but CZ USA used to sell them on their web site.  Not saying it would help, I never tried it, my P07 and P09 are the most accurate CZs I own.

I know some of my CZ's are extremely tight and take some force to get the slide release lever started moving and then pushed out.  On my P07 I have to use the corner of a magazine to get the slide release started and then I have to wiggle the slide to the front/rear while pulling on the slider release and have to re grasp the slide release two or three times before it finally comes loose/out of the frame.  Very tight fight with the barrel and the barrel has a tight fit with the slide.  And the darn pistol shoots amazing groups with the loads I shoot in it.
I just keep wasting time and money on other brands trying to find/make one shoot like my P07 and P09.  What is wrong with me?

Totally agree BUT, if one barrel is mechanically capable of greater accuracy (without sacrificing reliability) THAT is the one I want.  Do I out shoot my factory barrel?  Probably not, I have out shot my ammo though.  When I see what their (PM) barrels can do from a ransom rest, I have the opportunity to say "nope, that's me".

I also understand that a gun being accurate and a gun be easy to shoot accurately are not the same thing.

Interesting tidbit about the M&P locking block.  My M&P 2.0 Compact (which I love) has never had very impressive accuracy.  I know that Apex says some of that is due to how quickly the slide and bbl unlock and that theirs negates that issue.  True, not, dunno, I'm normally using my P10c w/RMR (why accuracy matters).

Appreciate the heads up on the feed ramps (of both), an increase in feeding issues is not acceptable (ccp).  I absolutely have to have bbl threads.  It drives me nuts not being able to attach my can to my most used handgun but...... starting to think wait and see what OEM options are available.

If you're this interested in mechanical accuracy just get a Walther q5 lol. The p09 has been the 2nd best for me with "factory accuracy" but again who knows if it's just me being more familiar and better with those 2
