CZ P10C Production Changes?
« on: May 24, 2020, 10:50:39 PM »
I’m looking to purchase a new polymer, striker fired pistol. The CZ P10C caught my eye, big time. I’ve been doing extensive research on it and noticed some references to a Production modification specifically with the mag release. It seems that the original mag release was fully ambidextrous. The current, newer ones appear to have a swappable/reversible release. Can anyone confirm this change?

If there has been changes made, any changes to improve the stiffness/heaviness in the slide release? Any changes to the auto forward feature?

If you’re a P10C owner, any other thoughts or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Yes to the mag release, it’s no longer fully ambi.

You will still see the earlier versions in stock at some dealers.

I don't believe they list auto forward as one of the features of the P10-C.

Gen 1 versions (9151x and 9152x or 0151x for communist states) are notorious for a very stiff slide lock.  I had one I couldn't operate one-handed and barely two-handed so I sold it.  I don't even use the release, I'm a racker, but it's annoying.  The mag release is also reported to be pretty sticky, I did not have any issue on mine.  It is definitely ambidextrous.  Most notorious was a slight chance for the slide to get locked out of battery.  Seems there's a screw somewhere that can work loose and catch on the barrel and bugger it up.  Can be anything from difficult to nigh-impossible to get unbuggered.  There's a YT video showing it well (Navy Seals and P10C).  It's not common, and CZ will certainly warranty it, but it's a pretty significant concern.

Gen 2 versions (9153x and 0153x) went to a reversible mag release that's presumably much looser and this is the easiest way to distinguish between gen 1 and gen2 model.  The slide lock is much easier to operate as well.

Great info ... Thanks!

In my research, I saw the YT video you referenced. I’m glad you mentioned it above and provided the context.

Is there any CZ documentation on the Gen 2 changes?

I wound not put much stock into that YT video! It has lots of miss information from guys that don't know much about CZ's   There is no screw in the P-10!  What they were most likely experiencing was ammo that had too long of an OAL. If you have a P-10 that has a harder slide release you can fix that by polishing the slide and slide stop were the two rub or get the CZC extended slide release.

Good discussion ....

If we’re talking the same YT video, the one reviewer used the F word three times in the first couple of minutes. Based on that, I didn’t watch the whole video and didn’t give them any credit.

Based on what I’m reading and the date in the thread, it sounds like an early production issue that CZ identified and corrected. I’m assuming another change between Gen 1 and Gen 2?

Definitely earlier production that were solved completely in gen 2 and handled under warranty for existing pistols.
