CZ as EDC compared to Glock 19
« on: May 26, 2020, 01:59:09 PM »
Not new to shooting but fairly new to CZ. For those with more experience, how do you compare a CZ (pick your model) to the Glock 19 or possibly Glock 43, as your EDC? Which CZ would you pick if CZ your choice?  And reason for choosing particular model.

Shadowline Compact for EDC and a replacement for the Glock G19.

Reason:
Easier to shoot.  More accurate than the G19.  Same platform as my full size Shadow pistols that I shoot in competition.  Heavier than a G19, but thanks to aluminum alloy frame, not too cumbersome.

I don't have a suggestion for a G43 replacement.  So I carry a G43 for NPE conditions or when dressed in gym clothes.

Any stock CZ with a safety and/or external hammer is a safer design than any stock Glock.  I think you'll also find the CZ more accurate and ergonomic.

For EDC it'd be hard to beat the P-07.  Run it with the decocker if you carry in Condition 2, or swap in the safety for Condition 1 carry.  Another option is the 2075 RAMI, which might well be the most accurate stock subcompact available.

This is a pretty hard pill for me to swallow. I'm pretty sure you still have to push the trigger on a Glock for it to fire. What makes any CZ a safer design than any Glock?

I may just need a lesson in design safety.

Would I rather own a CZ then a Glock? yes
Would I rather carry a CZ? yes
Do I own both brands? yes
Do I feel safer with one brand in my holster over the other? no
Can I shoot one brand consistently more accurate then the other? Yes the CZ, partially because of the ergonomics of the gun
Would I recommend a P-01 over a G19 ….yes if it was up to me.
Do I think my Glocks are designed less safe then a CZ? No
I do carry a CZ P-01 7-8 months of the year and feel 100% comfortable and confident in it.

I have carried my PCR for over 10 years now and that is the standard for which I judge anything else I might be interested in. I've never considered a glock of any kind and while I have tried other striker fired brands I'm just not interested. I do have a pair of Sig M11A1's that find their way onto my hip from time to time but for me the PCR is "the gun".

I'm not fan of Glock. And hard for me to compare G19 to CZ because striker fired CZ doesn't fit me as well. From EDC perspective P-07 much better option than G19 and P-01 better option than P-07... which means G19 is 2 steps down  8)

My P07 is as reliable as my Glock was.

Fits my hand better.

Shoots way better groups.

That P07 is my EDC concealed pistol.

The time or two when I've carried where I wouldn't carry the P07 I carried an FNS Compact.  Not as accurate as the P07, but the darn thing is so "small" I keep thinking I've lost it.
I just keep wasting time and money on other brands trying to find/make one shoot like my P07 and P09.  What is wrong with me?

Closest comparison in CZ’s line up to the Glock 19 is probably the P10C.  As far as the G43, probably the P10M that was recently announced, but haven’t seen any of those yet in the wild.

I have a G19 and G43 in my collection.  Both have their uses and I carried the G43 for a number of years.  IMO the ergos of the P10C fits my hand better and I like the trigger more, but the G19 does have a really big loyal following and huge after-market support.

I carried a Glock 19 for 7-8 years. It did it’s job and did it well but I never much cared for it. I switched to the P10-C a few years ago and never looked back. The P10 is superior to me without a doubt.

Since you asked........

CZ-75 Compact

-Has metal frame and slide
-Has thumb safety
-Has exposed hammer
-Not striker fired
-Doesn't have a widget on the trigger
-Feels better in my hand
-Did I mention it isn't made of plastic?

The CZ-75 Compact is what I carry when not carrying a 1911 (for the same reasons above).

I prefer DA/SA, so based on that and my experience I chose the CZ P07. I really only carry it concealed when on TX Army National Guard duty and it conceals easily in an OWB holster under my uniform. Now most of the time I am in shorts and a t shirt since it is hot and humid most of the year here in SE Texas. So, the P07 is harder to conceal for me. My normal EDC is an M&P Shield 9 or Ruger LCR 38.

I used to carry a G19 OWB or a 26 IWB depending on the weather / clothing. After switching to AIWB, I carry hammer guns exclusively - almost always a P01.

There's nothing wrong with the striker guns per se, but I'd rather put training time in on one type of platform. Just my opinion and not intended as advice at all - once I'm done toying with a Glock trigger to the point where it is very shootable, it's bordering on unsafe for AIWB carry.
