I think you will find shooting a .22LR at those distances to be a blast!
I have a 455 Varmint Evolution with a Vortex optic. Honestly, I dont remember which model or the magnification range off the top of my head. Shooting various match grade ammo's I found that it really likes the Eley match in the purple box, forgot which one that was specifically but I did purchase 1K rounds after discovering that. At 50 yards I am making a single ragged hole. At 100 yards its sub moa and out to 200 yards I can make a 3" group. That last one could be tightened up I am sure, but the only chance's I have had to stretch it that far it has been pretty windy. (10 mph or so of cross winds)
I use this setup to take squirrels from the porch with CCI Quiet rounds, some times as far as 80 yards out with deadly accuracy. You will have a blast with a 455/457 variant. Look into the "Yo-dave" trigger kits. I got my trigger pull down to 1.5lb with 0 creep. Its probably one of the best triggers of any setup I have ever felt. I want to pick up another variant of this platform in .17HMR or .22Mag. Personally, I love rimfire firearms. Cheap to shoot, and you dont need 500+ yard ranges to push their limits.
