“Does the Seecamp cycle pretty easily with a loaded mag in place?”

Crosstimbers,
I’m sorry, did you mean does it cycle easily by hand or during live fire?

By hand. With that Kahr I had to lock the slide back, then insert the mag and let the slide go. Trying to rack the slide with mag inserted was very difficult. It could be done, but not easily enough to carry with an empty chamber. I have a .22 mini revolver for extreme hot weather carry....yeah I know, but its better than fingernails.

I don’t think it’s too hard to rack the slide but everyone has different hand strength. My wife has a little trouble with the Seecamp but she has no problem with her S&W Bodyguard .380. And yes a .22 is far better than nothing at all.

It looks nice but I hear they are painful to shoot.  It seems some here on the thread agree with what I heard.

The .32 stings my trigger finger after a while. 380 can cause blister to the point of rawness. If no ouchy for you even better.

As for racking the side part, the magazine rides high. Its a trade off for a small design. I'd rather have that edge on making sure it goes bang.  I remember the manual stated try to not run the mag until empty, but to top off/change mag under range use. The magazine follower rides very high and the slide will contact unneeded wear. Of course when it comes time for its intended purpose disregard. Their manual was noted to be interesting and not so PC in its day. Basically calling what it is, defensive gun.

Here is the manual. See Care & Maintenance section about running the mag empty. http://www.seecamp.com/SeecampManualNew.pdf . History section of it is also an interesting read.

I want this underwear gun so bad, but the price is pretty rough. I hear the 380 is brutal, but I actually enjoy shooting small guns.

My Seecamp .380 cost me $529 including FFL transfer and it was brand new in the sealed box. It is a lot but a good bit less than the prices I saw previously. My hands are permanently rough and calloused from years of being in construction and a mechanic so it doesn’t bother me to shoot it but I’m sure it would be uncomfortable to shoot for more than an hour though.

There's a very similar gun, the NAA Guardian, that can normally be had for closer to 350-400$.  Honestly though I don't think many of these guns are available for purchase new at the moment, because of the demand spike caused by the coronavirus and the rioters.

Oh wow, that looks almost like a direct clone. I wonder how the fit and finish compare.

The Seecamp .380 is available at Grabagun for $519 at the moment:

https://grabagun.com/l-w-seecamp-lws-380-semi-auto-pistol-380acp-6rds.html

They are out of stock on the NAA Guardian 380, but have it priced at $431.99.

I'm pretty sure the Guardian is a clone of the Seecamp, which was the original pistol created by a former German soldier based on his CQC experience during WW2.  I have never handled either of them so cannot speak to the quality comparison.

I got mine on gunbroker through MGE Wholesale for $509 period, no taxes, fees or shipping. Then $20 for FFL transfer.

That's probably a better deal if they still have them.  If you can pick up directly from Grabagun in Coppell, TX they don't charge any shipping or FFL fee, but you'll be paying TX sales tax.

Seecamp has many admirers. I had a NAA 380 when they came out around 2004? Its larger, with a basic sight but had a little more to hold onto, no pain. Like the Seecamp a defense gun, not an amazing target shooter. Mine would not feed the last round if it was a JHP.  Its size was do-able in a pocket but its weight was a noticeable negative. Its fat for its size 20.5 oz loaded. Sold it quickly.

There’s a used NAA Guardian.380 on Gunbroker right now. Item number 865011450.

Trying to get posts up. Thanks for the thread, been wanting to try one out. Just wondering how’s reliability?

I’ve only put about 30 rounds through it, with no hiccups. But as far as long term reliability, that remains to be seen.

I want this underwear gun so bad, but the price is pretty rough. I hear the 380 is brutal, but I actually enjoy shooting small guns.

I previously stated that my hands were pretty rough from being a mechanic so it didn’t bother me to shoot my Seecamp .380 that much.

CORRECTION: I brought 100 rounds of .380 target ammo to the range today, Winchester 95gr FMJ. I got 35 rounds in and I now have a split across the first knuckle of my trigger finger and nasty blister that formed/busted/&tore open in the web of my thumb. I pushed through a total of 50 rounds and had to call it quits. But I did manage to finish shooting my SAR9 & P365.  8)

PSA: A Seecamp .380 is NOT a daily shooter.  ;D

Yeah I knew you'd change your mind on that. I wrenched for 35 years and had callouses on top of callouses but I could only manage 50-75 rnds through the 2 PPK/S I used to have. The problem is the straight blowback action and small size which causes sharp punishing recoil. Just not any fun at all to practice with so I got free of them.
