You might see if you can rent a S&W Bodyguard 380. I shot one a few years back and it is still very compact but not nearly as punishing to fire since it's a locked breach design vs blowback.

My wife has one for concealed carry. Good little guns, easy to shoot and manipulate.

 I've had my 32 Seecamp for over 20 years it's a great little pistol the long D/A only trigger makes it for pocket carry.

I was going to mention the "sore finger aspect" of this gun.
One of my best friend picked one up and I shot it.
I could hit what I aimed at but just didnt want to aim to often.

I thought itmight just be me becuase my buddy still has it and says i am full of Doo Doo
and he thinks I just dont like .380's.
