But it was all worth the effort. First time at the range using Federal AM22 and the standard recoil spring, I was grinning from ear to ear. :) :) :)

All good, Ed

Do you have to change out your recoil springs with the Kadet 22 kits?

They come with their own recoil springs as part of the kits.

Was the Kadet kit solely designed for the CZ-75B/BD? Is that why there were fitting issues?
Original Kadet and Kadet 2 - yes. Later models expand to more frames.
Fitting is not the issue, but rather design feature to adapt it to variation of CZ75 frames. There is a little extra metal in a key areas (to remove) to get a tight fit to your specific frame. Nothing more then a few strokes with a file or stone.

I was one of those who worried about fitting the Kadet 2 kit to my SP-01 (manual safety). Now CZ sells the new model specific Kadet kits: Shadow 2, SP-01, P-09 and P-07, in addition to the latest Kadet II. I think CZ sells a P-07 Kadet, not a kit but a whole firearm but only in Europe.

Of course, stupid me, I go and buy a Shadow 2 kit instead of an SP-01 kit. I had to take off quite a bit of material to fit it to my frame.

But it was all worth the effort. First time at the range using Federal AM22 and the standard recoil spring, I was grinning from ear to ear. :) :) :)

@Metal Wonder Nine,

The Shadow 2/SP-01 Kadet kits come with 3 recoil springs: painted blue for lower velocity ammo, unpainted or all silver for Std Vel, and painted red for HV ammo.

When I mentioned “standard” I meant to say the silver/unpainted one.

@RBRK,

I took some metal from the lower front portion of the slide, the part that moves and it’s hidden by the dust cover when installed.

Because I bought the Shadow 2 kit, not the SP-01 kit, I suspect that the Shadow 2 frame is wider than the SP-01 frame at the front of the dust cover. Someone who owns both models can chime in.

Are folks using a dedicated lower frame for their kadet? Or swapping back and forth?

my Kadet was already attached to a (non-matching S/N 75B) frame when I bought it used, so the Kadet lives on a dedicated frame

I bought my KADET ( 1 ) with my B-SA, so it spends time on both, my B-SA Frame, and my Brushed Stainless

The rest of its time is spent lounging around in the lower half of the CZ Case !

If I can’t wait for the Ruger MKIV Lite for my 13 year old daughter, I might end up buying the Kadet conversion for my shadow 2.

Was just reading on it and it’s made of steel. CZ Custom sells them for $431 but out of stock while Grab a Gun is selling them for $369.

Not sure, but I believe, the Shadow 2 KADET Kit, is Aluminum and Plastic, with Poly Mags
But the KADET 2 Kit, it IS all steel
And given ITS design, it is quite accurate too
Can't speak to the accuracy of the Shadow 2 KADET Kit
Hope you find what you're looking for

According to this, it’s made of steel.

From CZ USA :
The CZ 75 Kadet conversion kit is a separate accessory for the CZ 75/85 pistol series allowing the firing of .22 LR caliber cartridges. The CZ 75 fitted with the Kadet .22LR conversion is the perfect training or plinking pistol with the slide weighted and balanced just like the CZ 75. The Kadet adapter features all-steel construction and an adjustable rear sight. Included are 2 10-round magazines that fit flush with grips of the full size CZ 75 and SP-01 models.

The Kadet conversion kit will work on the CZ 75 full-size and compact models including the 75, 85, SP-01, 75 Compact, P-01, P-06, and PCR, but note that the full-size magazines will extend out of the bottom of the shorter grips on these models. The Kadet conversion will not work on the 97, 75 TS, 2075 RAMI, SP-01 Phantom, P-07 or P-09 models. Pre-B model 75s may or may not function with the Kadet due to differing magwell dimensions.

I would buy one for any reg CZ 75....Buying a Kadet Kit for my P-07 was a very good choice.  Training my grand kids and extra range time with the P-07 while shooting .22 ammo....can not beat it.

There are days when I enjoy shooting the Kadet more than the 9mm. Especially on steel targets.

I use the SP-01 Kadet kit on my P-01 Omega and love it.  It fits great and is more accurate than I am.  The mags stick out a little but I found the X-grips for Beretta 92C fit very well and close the gap.  Makes the P-01 look full size.  I like the polymer mags because of the loading tabs and the cheaper price.

G16:
I thought you were referring to the "Shadow 2" KADET Kit, NOT the (CZ75) KADET 2 Kit in you Post

As I said above, YES; a CZ75 KADET 2 Kit IS all Steel
Whereas; the Shadow 2 KADET Kit IS NOT
There is a huge difference between them

Very cool Crosstrain
Wonder if they'd work for other KADET Mags to Compact Frame applications ?
