I am considering doing or getting some trigger work done on my Shadow 2 after experiencing the fantastic trigger on my brand new AccuShadow 2.  My main goal would be to lighten up the DA trigger pull, with any other improvements being a bonus.  One of the options open to me is to send it off to Cajun Gun Works for their Shadow 2 upgrade kit.  That way I would get a reduced DA pull length and weight, the internals polished, the hammer changed and the disco fitted as well.  However, I am not sure that changing out the barrel bushing would be worth it as my barrel/bushing fit seems pretty darn good already. In fact I really can't detect any slop as the slide is installed on the frame.  Is the bushing change worth the extra $120 it would cost me?  Is the stock bushing that subject to wear with light/moderate shooting?

TIA.

one of their selling points on the 10x is that it is a harder material so even if both start out tight, the 10x should stay that way much longer.

The trigger feel is very subjective.  With a 12lb hammer spring, extended firing pin, and reduced power firing pin spring your pull weights would likely be lower than your Accushadow, 5 3/4 and 2 3/4 being the likely result.

Dropping 500 into a disco, hammer, and polishing can make that maybe a little lighter, maybe the same, or maybe even 3 or 3 1/4 on the SA.  Subjectively it should "feel" better though with less pre-travel/take-up, a shorter reset, smoother feel, etc.

If those diminishing returns are worth it for you, go ahead.

They often are for me as nearly all my S1/S2s have been to or are in progress at CZC now.

But a S2 with just the 3 parts I mentioned won't hold back anyone.

I have done a bit of looking and it appears changing the three parts listed, and maybe a recoil spring to boot, is fairly easy and cheap, and doesn't represent any permanent changes to the pistol.  Probably makes much more sense to do just that, at least for starters.  It looks like a hammer change isn't too bad either, and is supposed to provide some tangible results.  Looks cool too ;)!

Thanks!  You have been very helpful to this CZ noob...

Having just made this exact same set of upgrades to my shadow 2 I can without a doubt say that no matter how tight you think your bushing to barrel fit is, its not as tight as the 10x from cajun, I actually had to do some minor fitting after install because it was so tight it just wouldn’t quite fit in to the slide. IMHO this set of upgrades will take you to and beyond what CZ is offering right now with their shadow 2 orange. Out of the box the shadow 2 is a great pistol and if you are satisfied with its performance as is, cool deal. If you want it to be the absolute best it can be, I would definitely recommend the shadow 2 upgrade with 10x bushing.

Are you confident enough to cheange and install parts in your shadow 2? If so, I’d recommend buying the CGW parts and installing them yourself to save a lot of money. Then, search for professor atlas tuning tutorial on how and where to pilots how the internals to make your trigger smooth.

I bought the following parts and installed them myself on my shadow 2:
- 11.5# main spring
- T3 disco
- competition hammer
- adjustable sear
- extended firing pin
- reduced firing pin spring
- trigger return spring
- CGW x10 bushing
- polished the internal using professor atlas’ tuning tutorial.

After all these parts we’re installed p and polishing was completed, my DA dropped down to 5# 2.6 oz while the SA dropped to 1# 3.2 oz.

I saved a lot of money by doing all the work myself.

I think I would be comfortable approaching the gunsmith aspect of this task incrementally.  While your trigger pull numbers are very impressive, honestly I don't think I want numbers that low.  I am currently leaning towards doing the simple tasks first, maybe not even doing thr hammer yet, and seeing where that takes me.

My trigger pulls are low since I compete in USPSA. I’m used to smooth and very light triggers since all my guns are used in used in competition.

I did it myself with a kit.  I like to do that kind of thing as I get to learn more about my gun.  My trigger went from great to awesome.  It was totally worth it to me.
