Why are the P-07 and P-09 as heavy as they are?

I've been researching CZ pistols and I noticed that the P-07 and P-09 are almost as heavy as some all metal pistols and was wondering where the majority of that weight is located compared to a Glock, for example. The extra weight in no way is a deal breaker, I actually prefer it, but I am just curious where it comes from. Are the barrels heavier, for example?

Both my 07 and 09 are lighter than than my SP01. Fully loaded they are heavy. Twenty rounds onboard will do that...

There isn't a significant weight difference between a polymer frame and an aluminum alloy frame, so a P-07 and a P-01 are very similar in weight.

Could be the density of the slide or frame as compared to Glock.

A P07 is a little less than 4 ounces heavier than a Glock 19. The polymer on a P07 feels like it could be more dense. In the P07 there’s the main spring in the grip the take down lever, hammer, decocker/safety lever. Seems like it’s more parts in a P07 along with other factors that make it heavier than a Glock.

In my opinion the feel of a P07 grip is so superior to a Glock the weight doesn’t matter.

Ok didn’t know it was aluminum alloy. I just buy my guns to shoot them.

I’ll see how they compare to my 1911 for funsies.

My P-07 feels quite light, after I've been carrying and shooting my P229 for a while.

But my PCR is just a tad lighter than the P-07 and gets carried the most.

Either way, I attribute the few extra ounces of the P-07 over the Glock to the extra awesomeness.

My P-07 feels heavy because there are 15+1 147gr Federal HST's in it.  Unloaded it doesn't feel too heavy to me.  I recently picked up a titanium alloy guide rod off of eBay, which while heavier than a stock polymer guide rod, is significantly lighter than the stainless steel one I had been carrying in it.  I've thought about carrying lighter bullets to knock some ounces off of the loaded weight of the gun, but haven't convinced myself it's a good idea yet.

Why is it heavier than a Glock 19?  More steel parts inside.  See all above answers... mainspring, hammer, hammer strut, etc. plus I think the slide is a little beefier.

Steel Frame 75B compact - 32.8 oz
PCR (aluminum frame) - 27.5 oz
P-01 (aluminum frame) - 28.1 oz
P-07 (polymer frame) - 27.7 oz

P-10c - 26.3 oz

I don’t really know but in my hands my P09 feels like it has felt recoil than my all steel SP01.

I would agree with others and say more parts adds a little weight. It really does not bother me. My P07 carries just fine and my P09 shoots amazing. I agree that all three of my P09s have less felt recoil than my SP-01 Tac and 75B Omega.

Just found out my SP01 is a steel frame model which explains why my poly P-guns feel lighter!
