Trigger/Hammer Binding in DA
« on: August 08, 2020, 12:25:33 PM »
Hey all.

So have an issue that has recently presented itself on my back up SP-01 manual safety. I took a video to give a visual of the problem. As you can see, the hammer binds up and then if I pull hard, it finally breaks. Feels like its catching on something. Its intermittent; does not happen with every pull. Also, sometimes it doesn't bind all the way up. I can feel less resistance without it completely hanging. Again, feel like the action catches on something.

This gun has the CGW Pro Package installed. Other notable change is the firing pin block is removed with a spacer replacing the lifter arm.

I'm gonna tear apart the gun and reassemble to see if maybe something just isn't aligned correctly.

By way... it doesn't happen with the slide off.

Thanks in advance.

I can not say that i have seen that one before, neat. anonymouscuban, you seam to have broken your CZ in a rather uncommon manner. I believe that they may give you extra points for that.  ;D

My guess is that the Trigger Bar is hanging up on the inside of the frame. How it is possible for this to happen with the Sear Cage installed i am not sure. I am interested to hear if this still happens after you pull it apart and and put it back together. I am also interested to hear the input of other forum members on the subject.

Leave it to me to find a new way to break a CZ. LOL

Growing up, my friends didn't call me Destructicon for nothing. Haha

if it has the overtravel screw installed i would rotate the screw outward one turn and see if it still binds. if that isn't it than if the sear has the adjustable set screw installed i would do the same with that screw. if either of them screws are set too tight there will be issues. if the problem is still there after trying the above i would call Thomas at Cajun Gun works for advice.

So I stripped it down and reassembled. Didn't notice anything out of sorts when I did. But the issue seems to be gone. Weird!

This is a backup gun that identical to my match gun. Gun run it on Thursday in training to see if the issue creeps up again.

When you disassembled it to inspect did you pull the hammer and disconnector out?  I'm guessing that one of the hammer pins has walked out a little and is causing the intermittent binding against the frame.  Did you stake the pins?

My best guess...

Cheers,
Toby

Your hammer does not look like it is being cocked far back enough. Do you get light strikes?
