805 2 carbine group accuracy
« on: August 15, 2020, 05:20:28 PM »
How accurate is the bren 2 805 carbine 5.56? I would like to know what groups you're getting at 100 or farther if you could provide them.

Not as accurate as I had hoped.  I like the rifle very much.  Fit, finish, build quality, design, trigger, all excellent.  I scoped the bores (I have 14" SBR and 16" carbine) and they both look excellent.  Accuracy wise, (with admitted limited testing), the carbine shows promise with loads it likes, but is load sensitive, much more so it seems than other carbines/rifles.  My experience is the Bren2 is not as accurate as a decent AR, not as accurate as a Scar16s, on par with APC223 (yet much less consistent ammunition variation).  This opinion is after several hundred rounds of various loads, including 55gr FMJ, 60gr Nosler BT (by far the most accurate), 62gr Hornady BTHP, 77 gr Nosler CC BTHP, and a few other odd boxes of factory fodder I had.

All groups were fired from fixed bench using front rest and rear bag, 100 yards.  CZ Bren2 was wearing Leupold VX4 4.5-14x50.  Scar16s had Leupold VX6 HD 1-6x.  805 and APC223 had 6x optics

Thanks EFR, This is exactly the information I was hoping to find. Good evaluation and comparison. This really helps with decision making and probably save me a lot of money. I really love the way you posted your groups because that is exactly what I wanted to see.

Scar looks impressive!

Not exactly what you are looking for but freehand, Eotech, 50 yds, NATO M193... sort of medium-fast fire. Subjective but seems comparable to my ARs (5.56 11”)

My APC223 sport Gen 2 is more accurate than my scar was averaging .7-.8 inch groups at 100 yards. The APC I have is the 16" model. I'm interested to see what model of APC223 you have?

I have very few rounds down range with APC223; under 200. I dont even have optics for it yet. I've only tried Hornady 62 gr bthp (not impressive) and Nosler 77gr CC BTHP (shows promise).  Nice rifle/carbine. Fit and finish are unmatched.

Are you just using the factory crummy iron sights? I think everything else was well made on the gun except those bleepty ass iron sights.

No.  I have a Leupold Mark 4 4.5-14x50 I use as a test mule (not vx4 as I earlier incorrectly stated) to test rifle and/or load accuracy.   All targets posted in this thread were shot using the Mk4 scope with the excption of the Scar 16s, which has a Leupold VX-6HD 1-6x.  I intend to put 1-6X scopes (Meopta or Leupold) on the Bren2, 805, and APC223 as funding allows.

I agree with your sentiments on the APC223. I will add that I believe it is the finest made factory rifle I own.  The stock (I have the adjustable/folding model) leaves a lot to be desired. Two position (or 3?) adjustment, short length pull, and detachable cheek riser (purchased seperately), are all misses.  I only have a couple hundred rounds down range (less than Bren2), but while the accuracy is OK, it is not what I had hoped for.  I was on a waiting list for the APC308 DMR, and received a call that it was in, but I turned it down and bought another scar 17s due to the above considerations.

I definitely agree with you on the stock! I believe the B&T stocks and back up iron sights are a joke and need to be completely redone. Other than that, I think they have a SCAR 16s competitor. I have the B&T 308 14.3 inch pistol and it is a blast to shoot but I like my SCAR-17s better. The B&T APC 308 is more for CQB/ home defense 308, while my SCAR 17 is used mainly for hunting.

I have a 35 & 45mm group at 100 yards on my 7.62 version with a red dot and a crappy old man eye. Wolf hollow point and unknown ammo on the other. Pictures to follow.

A_Bren_tobeatallothersa:  35mm and 45mm groups at 100 yds with red dot is quite impressive, especially with Wolf ammo.  I would like to see what the rifle is capable with a magnified optic and quality ammo.  Good shooting!

Thank you. I was pretty excited when I did them. I will definitely wring this gun out better, as time goes on, but I'm so far from a range, and right now I'm kinda sick, and I have so many different types of ammo I just wanted to get a little bit of testing done. Not to mention I'm all wiley about the issue of fte which may or may not affect my gun, but I'm trying to help in that regard. Check out the other threads where I've made several videos in slow motion.
