« on: September 12, 2020, 11:45:29 PM »
Ran irons, waiting on dot. super fun. open poors! Costume was fun. Was mostly a tuning session. I'm quite rusty.

Thx, i'll have a few more processed and posted later.

I can see a large gains to be had by just setting up wood boxes and mag changes. I got a lot to work on!

Looks great!

Just dry fire the crap out of it once you install the red dot to establish your index. I used 6moa dots on all of my competition guns and MPXs.

Get a race holster too so you’ll draw will be faster compared to kydex.

Both stages. more fun stuff on the way.

I'm thinking of making a holster system that uses the pic rail of the 01. Stoger was out of dots, and I realized that once I get one I have to get race holster, so I bought other parts and 4k RMR bullets this go round.

Also bookmarking this: very interesting...

The the ~55 min mark they start talking about shooting irons with single or both eyes open.  The pro says that for accuracy single eye is preferred because it is faster to confirm his sighting on the flats on the sights. He says for normal higher frequency shots he is both eyes open.

As a graphics guy, I agree and here is why.
Take a look at the sight picture with just one eye (like the bullseye shooters do) with gun pointed at light colored target. notice the flat black contrast.

No do the same with both eyes. Assuming right eye dominant, the left eye is now overlaying its version of the sight picture on top of/intermixed with dominant flat black high contrast preferred sight picture. For me, I was aiming at the yard, and because the the green grass, seemed to lighten the entire sight picture  about (~20-30%). ). I think the overlay effect would be 50% if not for the dominant eye thing knocking it down some in your brain. I think it is this overlay effect and the inherent nature for the non dominant eye to try to line up sights that are the major factors in bullseye shooters using dominant eye only.

I prefer both eyes open when shooting action. I am actually left eye dominant and right handed. When I started shooting it was more ammo conservation so bullseye 22. It took me quite a while to start shooting with both eyes open and I actually had to train at the range to open both eyes for a while. Now I'm basically not scared of the guns and normally shoot both eyes open naturally in action, but most of my testing is on clays at 50 yd berm which instinctively I use single eye. Will be fun to try clays at 50 with both eyes - probably will start with bags!

So what are your guys thoughts on this?

Just for reference learn to move without pointing the gun up in the air.  Some ranges will DQ you as they have rules about the muzzle pointed above the berm.

You went home safe and had fun. That’s the most important thing.
