New, to me, CZ P07

I traded into a P07 recently. I really like the feel and function of this pistol. It is about the size of my 75D Compact. It just feels like it was made for my hand. This one is a 2016 model. It has a tritium front sight and the rear sight is blacked out. That is basically what I did with the Compact, so it works for me.
I like everything about the gun, then I changed the back strap. Oh my gosh----! I got the pin out, switched backstraps, then spent an hour trying to get it back together. I had to give up, but tried again today. I watched Youtube videos, obviously faked. I'm sure they took it apart, then went out and bought new guns to make it look like they put it together. I finally took mine to a local gun store and had them do it. They sell CZ's and are good 'smiths. It took the young guy there about 15 minutes and he had it done and wouldn't let me pay him for his trouble. They have good people in this shop.
That back strap will stay on until my great grandchildren have that pistol. And I hope they enjoy it as much as I do.

The hammer spring plug has to be pushed upwards to align it with the hole in the backstrap and frame.  Easy with a lanyard loop plug, tougher without.

I made myself a little bench tool to help.  See the little screw sticking up from the wood block.  I use it to set the hammer spring plug on and then push down on the frame to align those pin holes.



It also helps me push/hold the ejector in the bolt when installing the ejector pin on the AR15 bolts.

Put a round head screw into the face of your bench.  Hold the gun, muzzle down, with the back strap facing up toward you.  Hold the gun in your right hand, press the spring plunger against the screw head with your right hand and install the pin with your left. 
After a little practice, I can do this in about 30 seconds. 

Just know that as you're compressing the plunger into the spring pocket, the plunger will rotate a little.  This alignment is the trickiest part of the process.

Get a lanyard loop. It does make all the difference. And looks good too.

Yeah, about the darn thing rotating as you push it up into the frame.  Never pound that pin in.  When aligned it should just push in or push out.  And remember to have the hammer forward against the slide so you don't have to compress the spring so much (makes it easier.)  Having that lanyard loop makes it easier to align the holes, too, as you can grab the protruding portion of the loop and twist it left/right as needed.

Now, some people complain the lanyard loop hurts their hand when seating a spare magazine.  If you as the +2 bases to your magazines that problem will be solved, as well as having a couple more rounds in the pistol.
