PCR history question
« on: March 24, 2023, 08:26:10 PM »
Has there ever been a PCR logo on the slide? It seems odd that there’s no PCR logo on the slide. In nearly every conservation it is always referred as the PCR, seldom called the 75 D Compact.
Thanks

There's a very old thread in the archives from around 2000 where a member discusses having a PCR that had "MOD.PCR" on the right side of the slide ahead of the ejection port. I've never seen one in this country that actually had PCR on the left side of the slide and they've all been 75D COMPACT roll marked. Guns made for the overseas markets can have different roll marks too. CZ has been known to do interesting and confusing things with roll marks at time.

There are early pistols from 1999 with “mod. PCR” stamped on the slide between the front of the ejection port and the front serrations. The left side of the slide has CZ 75 Compact on it. I have seen only one of these in the US market. The PCR was not the version of the D Compact adopted by the Czech national police but rather the one we know in the USA as the P-01 (non-Omega).

Thanks for the replies. It only gets more confusing. I don’t think I’ll worry much about it. Just seems sort of strange referring to a handgun by a name that isn’t on it. But I still love my 75 D Compact.

Yeah kind of does but Smith & Wesson had various names years ago for each revolver model but they were never roll marked on the guns and generally not even inked on the boxes. Names such as Target Masterpiece and Combat Masterpiece and Combat Magnum never appeared on the guns but those were models 14,15, and 19 respectively. That's just a small sample too.

I'm still waiting on the Mod 81 "Chester Cheetah" autograph edition.
