I have to agree that for me the smoothest DA trigger was my sig P229 Legion, but recently I purchased the Beretta 92x Performance, and the DA rivals the Sig.

My 75 Shadowline has a very smooth and crisp factory trigger and is the best I've experienced.

DA a bit heavier than the CGW pro-pack on my PCR, but the Shadowline SA is very close and it has a great break with very little creep. I've found no reason to improve the SA trigger at all and have not even changed to a lighter hammer spring. (probably the only mods I will eventually make to the Shadowline will be hammer spring and 10X bushing)

DA is also smooth, but a bit heavier (I'm guessing ~ 8 lbs) but is is quite controllable and easy.

I realize you're referring to pistols, but my early 70's Colt Python and Diamondback have super smooth DA and fantastic SA triggers.  Pistol would be my LTT Beretta PX4 Carry. This is the full size version with all the LTT upgrades installed at the Beretta factory and tested  by Langdon Tactical before delivery.

My 1965(ish) bone stock S&W Model 39 is just so sweet. Very nice single stack.

I think the PX4 series has a lighter hammer spring than the standard 92 series hammer spring.

The standard hammer spring is the same as the "D" spring for the 92 Series. The Compact and full size Carry versions have the competition trigger group and a 4 pound lighter 12 pound spring.

At under $1000, I would have to say the Grand power Excalibur had the best SA/DA trigger that I have experienced out of the box.  At over $1000, the Shadow 2 and Shadow 2 Orange are at the top IMO.
CZ Shadow 2 Orange, S2 urban gray, S2 black and blue, 3 polished stainless 75b's and a black 75b all with MCARBO kits and front Dawson FO.

depending on how much latitude is given to the term "factory", a Korth revolver is about as good as a DA/SA trigger could dream about being  8)

and at Korth prices, dreaming is as close as I'll ever come to owning one  :o

I’ve heard more than once that the CZ-82 has the best SA/DA factory trigger.

Has anyone here ever shot a factory-new CZ 82?  My milsurp 82 has DA and SA trigger pulls that are astonishingly smoother and lighter than those on either of my 83s, but I've always assumed this is because the 82 was well used by the Czechoslovak military.  I understand all internal parts are identical between the 82 and 83.

This. The question should be best DA for “out of the box”.

On the other side of the spectrum, the Polish P-64 9mm Mak wins for the worst DA trigger (somewhere around 25#), but the SA is really nice. Well used P-64 pistols can get to a more manageable 11-12# DA with a lighter mainspring.

It has been said, that the Colt, Z40 / CZ 40 had the best, out of the box Trigger, of all DA/SA Pistols
Don't know, never held one
So tell me again how Trump will be worse then the 8 years before HIM !

The Colt Z40 was DAO. The CZ 40B does have a nice DA/SA trigger, but I've never handled one fresh out of the box.

Handled a FN 45 Tactical today, and while it may not be the absolute best DA/SA trigger I've felt on a factory gun, it was pretty darn high on the list. Extremely smooth and linear pull, like butter without a hint of grit.
