New AO1 malfunctions
« on: September 26, 2020, 08:04:38 PM »
Hello,

I bought a new CZC A01-LD last week and was able to put 150 rounds through it. It shoots beautifully, but in the first 100 rounds I had more than 10 jams (mostly issues with feeding a new round, but a couple stovepipes too). This was rather disappointing (to put it mildly) given the high cost. I was using Remington 115 grain target ammo. When I switched to 147 grain CCI, it did much better (just one stovepipe). But still, I never have had any problems with my factory SP-01, P-10F, or 97B, each of which have had hundreds or thousands of rounds of various kinds of ammo through them. The gunsmith at my local shop added some lube to the slide and recoil spring to the A01, and a few test rounds seemed to go better. (The ejection pattern was a little less anemic.) But I am wondering what else you all think I should do, if anything. I will mostly be shooting 115 grain ammo for a while, since that is all I can find these days. Does the gun just have a break-in period? Would I be better off getting a heavier recoil spring? If so, which? I don't see A01 springs on the CZC site.

I emailed CZC twice last week (info@czc), but no reply yet. I don't know how backed up their emails get, and I'm sure they are plenty busy, so I thought I'd try posting here as well for any advice.

If it doesn't get any more reliable, I'll have to trade in or sell, but will take a definite $ hit. Maybe I should have gotten that TSO I was looking for when I walked into the shop that day!

Thanks for any advice.

Remington 115 gr has an extremely short OAL which always led to ftf malfunctions in my czs.  Typically the round would hit the top of the chamber and get stuck.  Use something else and you should have better luck.

Thanks! That's what was happening. Had good luck with Federal syntech 150 and FMJ 124 today. No issues.
