Thank you everyone for your help. I think I got it sorted out. At the suggestion of someone on IG I reached out to Steve at Jagerwerks and he helped me determine the sights I need for the lowest possible, but still usable, cowitness. I have also decided to change my game plan slightly. Instead of putting my rear sight behind the optic I'm going to put it in front of the optic.

Absolute co-witness works really well with the rear sight in front of the optic. Nothing blocks your view of your primary sight (the red dot).
Actually, it doesn’t.

It’s no different than red dot optics on a carbine.

There is a reason for lower 1/3 co-witness.

Look up Aaron Cowan and Scott Jedkinski. Cowan offers a free 70 page book you can download in which he goes through a LOT of theory and application.

Don't need to.  I'll ask Scott myself when I see him in December. I still stand by my original statement.
No need to ask him then....
