mcarbo trigger spring kit
« on: October 01, 2020, 03:00:56 PM »
Has anybody installed the mcarbo trigger spring kit in their PCR ?    Looks simple enough from the utube video, but is it worth the effort ?

an uninstalled kit came with a P-01 BD I bought a couple of months ago.  Haven't had time to install it yet.  Will be my first time tinkering with a gun beyond a field strip for cleaning.  The part that makes me nervous is the sear spring.  I might just skip that part and hope it doesn't detract too much from the overall improvement.

lots of debate on the topic here:

The spring kits I've used from MCARBO have been high quality and as advertised. Both in rifles and handguns alike.
This particular kit reduced the pull of both DA and SA by about half. I didn't measure before, but post spring install I'm seeing 5.5-6lbs DA and 2.5-3lbs SA. Results may vary.
I found the hardest part about the spring install was removing the factory installed pins. I am a commercial aircraft mechanic by trade and these tested me. Be sure to secure the firearm in stable enough position to apply the proper punch with a big hammer. Pins are directional. The actual spring replacement was pretty straightforward. The replacement main spring feels pretty tight upon installation, but works flawlessly.

Put one in my sp01 , followed the video and was easy. Even with the de-cocker Not as hard as I thought it would be,will see if it holds up like the spring kit from cajungunworks I put in my stainless 75b.

I installed one in my P07 and I'm very happy with it.
Installation (omega) was easy, just take your time, keep track of the parts and follow the video.

Update on mcarbo spring install in sp01 de-cocker ...double action is greatly `reduced but trigger return spring is too weak and trigger seems to bind up or return slowly. Will put original trigger return spring back in. The cajun  gunworks spring set I put In stainless 75 is Flawless. Will be buying those in the future. You get what you pay for!

Your trigger bar spring is not adjusted correctly, and that's why you have a weak/sticky trigger return. One of my 75s had the same issue, the other three did not.  After I adjusted the trigger bar spring, the Mcarbo trigger return spring worked perfectly. You get what you pay for does not apply to this kit.

If you don't have nothing helpful to post, you should just keep your thoughts to yourself, but that's not you.  I have no affiliation with this company, none at all.  Maybe you should take a few minutes out of your schedule and read the 237 reviews on this kit.

So back on track....

How was the trigger bar spring out of adjustment? How do you know Or test function? What did you do to adjust it?

One side of the trigger bar spring is pushing up harder than the other side is, and that creates some binding with the trigger bar return.  Do a Google search on adjusting trigger bar spring on a CZ 75, and a few references should come up that will tell you how to correct. The adjustment took me less than a minute to do and does not require removing the trigger bar spring.

I adjusted the trigger bar and works better now, thanks!

Just installed my kit, except for the sear spring (might tackle that later.).

I followed the video, but not in same order.  started with the hammer spring, and had some trouble with the mag guide afterwards when the magazine wouldn't drop free.  Finally got the top attachment of the mag guide to seat properly and it worked fine.

struggled with the trigger spring for a while after it popped out and sent the alignment pin flying across the floor and never did find it.  but that finally worked out.

after I replaced the firing pin spring and firing pin block spring, I now have the problem with the mags not dropping free again.   checked the mag guide again but no luck.  what am I missing?
