Cutting 712 G2 Utility synthetic stock down?

So the 712 Utility came in. I didn't realize the LOP is 14.5" and I'm a shorter fella.

Is there anything to worry about within the stock to cut it down? Once cut down, what pad is nicer than factory to replace?

Any thoughts appreciated.
