New CZ 457 American .22lr
« on: October 24, 2020, 09:06:10 PM »
A trip to the (not so) local fun store resulted in the purchase of this beauty:

I had recently started to get back into my .22 rifles lately and have been trying to find an extractor spring and extractor for my J.C. Higgins model 31 without much luck. I had seen this rifle at the shop a few weeks ago, did some research and decided if I could find one with a nice piece of wood I would buy it. There were two in stock, the display and this one. Once I saw the tiger stripes on the stock my mind was made up. The scope & rings are a set of Warne rings and a Vortex Crossfire II 2-7X32 rimfire. Very nicely made, fit & finished and the trigger is amazing! Off to the range tomorrow where I will also try out my J.C. Higgins 31.  This is my 3rd purchase of a CZ firearm within the past year, including a Shadow 2 blue/black and an AccuShadow 2 and I am VERY impressed.  CZ makes some awesome firearms!!

I made it to the range today with the new 457 and all I can say is that it shoots as well as it looks!  I was putting 5-10 rounds inside a 1” target dot at 50 yards without a problem, very good for me.  I am very happy with the new rifle.

Been looking for a lux for a while with no luck. Saw a premium last week at LGS , almost the same  but a little fancier front I didn’t like. ...should have bought it cuz the guy at the store said it may be a long time before the get any more  cz .22!

I don't much care for the foreend tip in the Premium either, either the shape or the different kind of wood.  Very nice rifle though.  It surely seems that there are only a few select models of 457 models readily available unfortunately.  Good luck on finding a Lux!

Real nice wood on that 457.  I can readily see why you took it home with you.  The Vortex 2-7 matches up pretty nice.  Nice to hear it shoots as well as it looks!
