I see the duckbill as a 2 handed operation but I can operate my stock CZ mag release with my right hand only while grabbing a new mag from my belt.     Much more effective for me

My duckbill ejects the mag fine and they do NOT have to be pulled out.  Sounds more like operator error. lol

I use the Yeti Wurks Avalanche.

One pretty major benefit is that I can use my right (shooting) hand to engage the mag release by flicking my middle and ring finger forward. This lets me change the mag with my left hand and not have to knock the empty mag loose. My hands aren't large enough to do that with a stock mag release. Plus, I'm an AR shooter, so this makes mag changes on the Scorpion work more like mag changes on the AR and less like AK mag changes.

On a last round hold open? I have tried all of my mags, factory, Manticore and PSA, none will drop on a last round hold open. If yours does that, you got yerself a unicorn. I have to grab and strip it out.

I did swap out my mag release for I think the HBI version. I must use middle finger to activate the release as the paddle extends below the trigger guard and you get greater leverage and lighter effort needed to manipulate. There are ridges on it to simulate the factory release, I prefer the lower release method design intent.

Correct they all drop free.  1/2 of my PSA mags are sanded 1/2 are NOT.  However I did use the factory release spring on the duckbill release install. Go figure ??? lol

Are you saying that you sanded off enough plastic on the front of the mag that they will drop free on the last round hold open? My empty mag ejects if the bolt is in the lock back condition. If they are in the last round hold open condition and I press and hold and wiggle the gun, they might drop. A fully loaded mag will drop from mine in the LRHO condition due to the weight. Please expand on this if you could.

I am going to do a bit more searching on this topic as I get a feel that it is too inconsistent to ignore as a gun feature and may end up creating another thread to ask the forum what their experiences have been with this subject.

Yes they drop free empty with the last round, bolt open.  The ones I sanded were the first gen PSA AKV compatible mags.  These first gen would not drop free until I sanded them.  First I experimented with a few sanding them all around the top four sides.   Then I ended up only sanding that front portion you spoke of.  Then later on within the last year I purchased the more current gen PSA mags.  Those required NO sanding to drop free with the last round fired bolt open empty.

Perhaps PSA listened and changed the molds by a fraction of an inch.   I dunno....Interesting though, I am just glad I do not have to spend 5 minutes lightly sanding anymore.  All I use is PSA mags as I prefer the metal reinforced feed lips UNDER the plastic lips.  Unlike the Manticore which the clip on metal lips become loose and the ammo hangs up in without lubing the mag wall interior.
