I never paid much attention to the coils in the spring.

Do they make contact with each other?

I was wondering about the friction/temperature/lube stuff.  If the coils do not make contact with each other as the trigger is pulled and released would there be heat generated anyway?

Is there something about the amount of available space, or the required spring diameter, that results in the coils being close enough to rub each other?

Just wondering.

i cannot seem to post pics of it, but yes, the coils are close together.

I think any heat generated in the TRS from dry firing is negligible, though I would still at least put a tiny drop of lube since it’s metal on metal. You’ll generate more heat through conduction when live firing the gun versus simply working the spring during dry fire.

I always lube my trs very well. While the coils do make contact I think keeping them lubed allows them to wear in and self polish reducing friction between them over time. Problem is and I've seen it some of these guys dry fire at a much faster rate than you could actually live fire the gun. I see no point in that other than adding wear to your pistol unduly. Like riding the brakes in your vehicle you cause things to fail prematurely.

So this has been on my mind a lot the last few months. I have spares for commonly worn parts for most of my firearms except my CZ's. Is there a list of replacement parts that are good to have on hand for ALL CZ's or maybe firearm specific?

I've got a used 75b, SP-01 Tac and a Compact (99021).

Cheers!

Personally, I like to keep spare parts on hand for my firearms that I plan to rotate as a defense weapon, wether they’re for home or out and about. I don’t worry too much about spare parts for guns I shoot for fun. I would at least have a full set of springs for any gun you plan to use for defense, if those parts are available of course.

That’s just my way of thinking though.

To those who experienced a broken TRS, what portion of the spring has broken? Coil or leg?

Remember what 1Sow always said, "When you have to replace a part you buy two.  One for the gun and one to put away for the next time.  But then, when you have a ready spare on hand, the one you installed never breaks/gets lost again."  Or something very close to that.

I've got a couple containers of CZ parts.  Part for the P07/P09, parts for the CZ75 models, and so far I've not had to use any of them.  I run across them (the containers) every so often when I'm looking for something else and I just sort of grin and keep on looking for whatever it was I was looking for to start with.

Someday I could have a CZ pistol break.  Maybe it'll be a part I've got in one of those containers.
I just keep wasting time and money on other brands trying to find/make one shoot like my P07 and P09.  What is wrong with me?

Same here. Every time I get in my safe and see my bins with the various spare parts, all is right.  8)

Yep. The best insurance for the TRS is a drop of oil before dryfire and a spare(s) in the bin. I'm one of those guys who's never broken one.

Come to think of it, I never have either.

Nor have i, been trying though. It would give me a reason to take a CZ apart.  :( No fun for me!
Will work for CZ pics! (including but not limited to all CZ clones)

I've probably broken 15 or more.  Some have been because I was breaking the gun and trigger in, and did extensive dry firing, others just happen with normal dry firing and shooting.  They are the achilles heal of the design.  I don't think that any feat of metallurgy can remedy the problem.  When you look at a new one you see why.  The legs are long lever arms on a very small spring coil.

I do think extensive dry firing can wear them heavily.  I think if you are someone who shoots 1-200 rounds a month, and don' dry fire all that much, you may NOT see one break for years.

I also don't think it is a huge issue for competition - you can change them out fairly easily on a non-decocker gun.  (e.g. Shadow 2).  If you have in important match, you just put a new one in and drive on.

I was very disappointed in the P01 Omega because it is not a high round count gun, and had not extensively or intensively dry fired the gun.  I have other guns that I've again - DFd the snot out of and no problems.

I just LOVE the way that CZs handle and shoot - so I live with it.

Have you managed to break any of the red painted TRS, that started showing up in factory CZs around a year ago? I am still curious if there was any change to the spring on the red ones.

. I believe the one I broke was one of these but it was in there a while and seemed less red than I thought when I took it out.  I DID replace it with a new version.  These actually add to the pull weight.  I think they will last longer but don’t fix the problem.

Ok so no true list of spares that need to be commonly replaced but maybe keep a spare set of springs on hand.

Now, which springs? Or is there a kit that covers it?
