Miss My mid morning nap in the pine grove in the woods we hunted years ago. Even more than hunting I loved being in the woods on those cold late fall/early winter mornings and how relaxing it was.

This made me laugh. I've never been able to stay awake in a tree stand. No telling how many deer have walked right by me. . .

Hunting for elk hiking high up in the Big Hole and Teton mountains among the pines and snow, trying to be quiet as possible while listening for squirrel chatter. Taking turns napping against a nice big tree. I want to smell that air again. I remember walking among aspens in the mist in the Tetons was spooky, because it looked like eyes were everywhere.  I miss the steam rising off a creek, or looking down thousands of feet at an inversion layer from high elevation, the thick rolling fog it would produce.  Scary random moose encounters to tell stories about.  Of course those stories got better with time. Messing around with pine martens, they were so mean, they deserved it! I didn’t know what I had, then.

Sounds like we've spent a fair bit of time in the same haunts. I've got some scary moose stories in those mountain as well. And a few years ago, had a wolf walk right up behind me. I love those mountains.

Things you miss hunting/shooting ....
Most nowadays .... it's the Target !
But really ....
Going to the Old Long Beach City Police Pistol Range once or twice (or more times) a week
That was the very first official "Range" I visited as a Kid .... at 8 or 10 (maybe younger)
Shot there almost every week, until it closed to the public in the late '80s early 90's
I left hundreds of thousands of Rounds of Lead in that Sand over the years !
And Trees worth of Paper shot the #e[[ too ! ! !
Learned a lot from the Range Captain, and others .... every visit, something new
I really miss that place !
So tell me again how Trump was worse then the 8 years before .... AND what's coming after HIM !

Somewhat already touched on, but not directly...miss when everybody hunted, or at least understood hunting...and people didnt call the Sheriff's Office simply because they heard a gun go off.
It's not saving any water if you have to flush it over and over....

I miss being able to hunt without substantial physical pain.

I miss competitions and live action drill shooting like I did on the NIS (known as NCIS today) courses .  Limited by several handicaps my mobility, decreased range time has made my proficiency less stellar....... to the extent it is becoming less and less satisfying's to go.

Thought of a big one.  Being able to grab the M1A and walk the paths/trails in the woods at home all day.  These days I don't like walking with just a pistol, up and down those mountains.
I just keep wasting time and money on other brands trying to find/make one shoot like my P07 and P09.  What is wrong with me?
