CGW Pro Package - full vs IDPA production legal?
« on: December 14, 2020, 09:59:02 PM »
I have a stock P-01 I want to send to CGW, however I can't decide whether to get the regular pro kit, or the variant that will keep it IDPA production legal.    I don't plan to compete heavily with the gun but I like the idea that I could run it occasionally to get more trigger time with the gun.

Does anyone have experience with the gun with the full pro package vs the IDPA legal variant?

I emailed CGW and they said the main differences are  that the IDPA version
1.  Uses the 85C trigger which is a little more curved (which I don't mind) and "doesn't shorten the double action pull length" (what does this mean?)
2. Uses the factory competition hammer that may have a slight amount of creep

Should I give up on IDPA and get all CGW parts?

Sweet.   Would you say the trigger has creep?  Is the break clean? Clean-ish?

Production is not a division in IDPA, but it is in USPSA . I think you can get the full pro package and shoot ESP division in IDPA
Like a midget at a urinal, I'll have to keep on my toes

Unless you plan on shooting this in larger match with equipment checks etc I don't think anyone is going to mind a different hammer and trigger.

I also don't think it is much of a difference. It is perceptible when you are standing there paying attention to the trigger pull but not when you are tossing lead down range.

I would build the gun you want long term. If IDPA is occasional I wouldn't make it a priority.

You ill LOVE the Pro Package. I made the mistake of letting my wife shoot a 75 compact right after I put the Pro Package on. after the first mag she looked at me and said "surely you don't think I'm giving it back". It is now her EDC

As Underwhere said, when the timer goes off, you won't know the difference between the two hammers. Just shoot the class your gun fits in. Or you can also shoot what you have,  if it doesn't fit a class they'll still let you participate. Most of us eventually come to the realization that all of this pre-competition planning doesn't matter when your new to gun games.
