Rumor Control: RAMI discontinued? [CONFIRMED]
« on: December 24, 2020, 10:55:12 AM »
I saw a post made by a retailer over at calguns.net on 14 Dec 20 that CZ USA sent out an email to dealers which said the RAMI has been discontinued and production has ceased.  Can anyone confirm this claim?

The timing of this claim is interesting to me here in California as the DoJ's handgun roster for each manufacturer expires annually on 1 Jan unless renewed.  Turns out as of this morning (24 Dec 20) CZ is one of the manufacturers who have not yet had their list approved for 2022 so no help there to confirm the claim.  If the RAMI is discontinued it would seem unlikely that CZ would go to the hassle and cost of getting it on CA's handgun roster for 2022 just to sell out the existing CA supply, but who knows.  Here's the link to CZ's approved model list for CA (https://oag.ca.gov/firearms/certified-handguns/search?make=151012).  It's not unusual for approvals to come in later in January after the expiration date.

It looks like CZs have been renewed on the CA handgun roster for another year to include RAMI. Still looking for confirmation on the model being discontinued.

I saw the post that you are referencing on Calguns.net. As of yet i have not heard any further confirmation on the subject. The pistol being relisted on the California DOJ Handguns Certified for Sale list dose not necessarily mean anything. There are CZ pistol models on the list that have not been manufactured for many years.
Will work for CZ pics! (including but not limited to all CZ clones)

Time will tell on this I'm sure. The CZ-USA website still shows the Rami B and BD 9mm in production but the .40 S&W version was kicked to the curb in 2016 as CZ has abandoned that cartridge.

For information:
The Rami is no longer listed on czub's European website.

The Rami hasn't been listed on the CZUB site for some time. The 97B/BD is also missing and has been for some time even though it was still being imported and sold in the U.S.

Doing a Google search in Germany for buying the Rami you still get some few results, but to my impression not as many as some time ago. So I suppose, these are Ramis still in stock
If a gun isn't listed any longer on the website of the manufacturer, that's normally the hint, that the production is phased out or has even ended.
CZ probably sees the Rami as superfluous after the introduction of the P10 S and P10 M.  It remains to be seen whether that is correct.
Addional hint:
Frankonia is a similar enterprise in Germany like Cabelas in the US.  Frankonia is the main importer and largest seller of CZ pistols in Germany.  The Rami is currently on SALE on the Frankonia website at a special price.
Maybe so, but some models are sold in the U.S. market and not in Europe. This isn't a new discussion here. I'm just pointing out that absence from the CZUB catalog doesn't guarantee that a model is discontinued.

Not too surprised. While I know the Rami has a loyal cult following, I don't think it has been a big seller in recent years.

Maybe we'll finally see a Rami-sized version of the P-07 as a replacement in the lineup?

It's definitely discontinued for 2021. CZ-UB first mentioned that back in the spring or summer on their FB page.

From what I have seen here and other forums, the Rami, especially the BD, have been very much sought after. Just looking around I notice them available for very short spurts then out of stock for long periods. I'm not heartbroken about it being discontinued. I have a BD that I don't love, have been thinking about turning it into cash for a couple years. I may have to wait and see what happens to its value.

As much as I love my Rami BD, the ergonomics, smooth DA/SA trigger, accuracy, reliability and firepower in a small package, I have to say CZ dropped the ball by not updating them to a modern configuration, i.e.: adding a rail for lights and lasers and an optic mount. That’s where the Sig P365XL shines and why it’s so popular, though I don’t care for plastic, striker fire and the lousy trigger by comparison to the Rami.

A Rami BD with a factory rail and factory mounting access for a good red dot sight would be just about perfect. I may have to pick up another one and have it customized to that configuration...that’s the direction hand guns are going these days.

Contacted a CZ dealer and they told me the rami was not in the 2021 price sheets. I’m assuming that indicates that there rami is truly discontinued. Hopefully I’m wrong but I think the hand writing is on the walls.
