Unis Genix Pistol Primers
« on: January 24, 2021, 10:37:54 AM »
Does anyone have any current info on Unis Genix Pistol Primers, good or otherwise? I have read some older info about these but nothing published the past couple of years.

TIA, Bob

there was a discussion on them a bit ago, and the opinions were not favorable.

Not a ton of info here.
I may be able to get these in some quantity - i have only heard rumor and innuendo they are not good - then i see other people post they are fine.
Before I buy 8 million of them - I would like some real info from people that have used them.

1. Do they seat ok in new brass?
2. Do they seat ok in used brass?
3. Do they go bang - all the time - if you seated them correctly (see points 1 and 2 above)

The fact is we may not see any other primers any time soon, I'd rather have ones that are difficult to seat (but go bang) than no primers at all.

Distribution is kind of sketch. I ordered 10k back in August and I still don't have any sort of lead time.

Yes this is the issue - like I said I know of a guy buying an entire shipping container - but no idea when that container will actually be on the water - in my mind - until it is here in the USA and the container has made it through US Customs - they don't exist.

I heard they should be here in March - but as far as I am concerned - they aren't here until they are here...

I don't know all the rules about selling/shipping primers  -  I would have to buy them from the guy - I think 5000 at a time - then I would have to ship them - and that involves HAZ MAT shipping and stuff.

But if they ever show up and I can get them - I will let you know.

I am secretly hoping Winchester/Federal/CCI (seems Remington is getting out of the reloading components business) have primers back on store shelves before these Unis Genix primers show up - then I wont have to learn all about HAZ MAT shipping...

Which is more than a label. I believe it involves a trained driver... so a special truck, which all locales do not have. I looked into having a powder/primer business several years ago and even in a farming county with zero rules, the shipping was a deal killer.

Well this would not be a "Business" this would just be me helping a few people out - I am sure I could take these items - all packed up in boxes  - to the main FedEx hub not far from my house and ship them - i just don't think I can drop them at the local FedEx/Kinkos and expect them to handle them correctly.

Shipping hazardous materials is a lot more than putting them in a box and dropping them off at UPS. There are a lot of federal regulations about HazMat shipping, and even a minor paperwork mistake is a $10,000 fine and a possible Federal Felony.
