A friend brought an M13 to the range many years ago, and when I tried it I was very impressed with the accuracy for a compact gun, and the whole package in general.

So when these two guns showed up at an auction back in 2014, I had a hard time choosing, then decided to try and get both, since they’re not made anymore and can be hard to find, seems like owners hang on to them. They were both abt $ 1500 apiece.

The M13 was LNIB with most accessories, but only one mag (I guess it originally came with two). It was made in 1998.

Because of the complete package and it’s condition, I don’t shoot it much, probably had 50 rounds through it. I would happily carry it though (if I could carry).

The M8 came without box or papers, just the gun and two mags. It’s the one I shoot regularly. The slim grip with single stack magazine helps, as the cocking lever makes the grip quite long across. It was made in 1986.







And it’s accurate. 25 meters off hand

Congratulations and may they serve you well!  8)  :)

I've shot the P7 M8 version and was impressed by it.

I've been planning on getting a Walther CCP M2, which uses the same Gas System as the H&K P7's, and I find the Walther's Grip more ergonomic.
Unfortunately, like everything else, they are sold out everywhere, and even if available, way over priced.

I have a P7 M8 as well. Scarily accurate. Only downside IMO is how hot the gun gets when shooting more than a mag.

Wish magazines were more available

I have a P7M8 as well, very accurate and a cool piece of engineering. I’m glad I bought it when I did, as the price has since tripled. They do get hot, I can imagine how hot a  P7 PSP gets without the plastic trigger shield. I really prefer the paddle style mag release. Field stripping and reassembly, Not  so much

I was fortunate to get a decommissioned West German police P7M8 about 15 years ago. Love the gun and when I had the chance to pickup a new M8 I jump on it.  Later, I found a PSP used.
Unique, accurate, fun to shoot but they do get hot. The M13 is really rare along with the 40 S&W version.

I am a big fan of the P7s.  I think the key to their accuracy is the fixed barrel.  Slide locks onto the barrel.  Barrel is so low to the grip due to the piston locking mechanism and the lack of a guide rod.  Makes recoil very manageable.  Excellent pistol all around. 

Hans in Die Hard had one and so did Stranix (Tommy Lee Jones) in Under Siege!

How is the cocking mechanism unsafe? The gun won’t fire unless it’s squeeze cocked.  I find them exceptionally safe.

I knew a guy that had a P7, said it was the most accurate pistol he ever shot. But, I never got the chance to even handle it.

I agree.

The grip is technically a cocking mechanism  , NOT a "safety" but functions as such.  If you dropped the gun it wouldn't go off because it wasn't cocked.   No need for a firing pin block!  Back in the days when slide or frame mounted safety levers where the norm (and external hammers)  the gun was one of the safest yet fastest to deploy.

Keep in mind though that given the design of the pistol, if you squeeze the grip while the trigger is depressed the pistol will go off.  It would be inane to do that intentionally though and totally against instinct.

The only "theoretical" disadvantage of the cocker is the clicking noise it produces, most noticeable during de-cocking.   It's kinda loud, not good when sneaking around.

My point! I think the HK P7 is the best gun design ever!! HK should make them again !! I carry the P7 PSP and tucked away is a brand new P7M8 in box. Very easy to maintain!! I wish I could find one in a .380 !
