Just pulled the order trigger on my first Rami

I decided a Rami was gonna replace my old “pocket gun” after briefly owning a 75 and drooling over many review videos. After looking all around for a deal on a used one I ended up finding a new BD one on Guns dot com. When I got to the end of the order form someone already beat me to it!

I quickly found another (searching by UPC). It ended up being 800 total, including all fees and shipping with no sales tax thankfully. And a BD as well! The price seems high but after calculating even a $600 (or higher) used one on Gunbroker it was a better deal once you roll shipping, taxes and other fees in.

Did I overpay? Probably. But I really don’t see prices getting better for the foreseeable future. And hey, I got one of my dream guns.

Congratulations, you overpaid it, but considering that these have been discontinue, the price you paid may not be really that high in the near future.
I hope you know that RAMI has really excellent qualities, but "pocket gun" isn't one of them

Hah. I know “pocket gun” doesn’t fit the bill for this heavy little chunk. Tongue in cheek for what people call polymer carry guns these days.

RAMI is (was) a great gun. With variety of Cajun improvements, one of the best. What made it replaceable for me was the lack of laser/red dot sights. With my aging eyes, even excellent night sights or fiberoptic (which I had on my RAMI) were insufficient for decent shooting at 10 to 20 yards. I was always taught to try to be perfect and I practice a lot, and the red dot "revolution" made it as nearly perfect as I could achieve with lots of practice. That was main reason I went with CZ P10S OR.
About the same size and weight it now provides what I need, but I still think very highly of RAMI pistol. Enjoy it.

I managed to find a reasonably priced BD ( new) last week. Already own the safety model and absolutely love it. The price will be immaterial since their eminent demise looms closer. Congratulations, Enjoy.

I don't own any polymer guns yet. I've only shot steel guns with exception of some hunting rifles with synthetic stocks. That said, the P10S OR was a contender for the RAMI for my #2 CZ. I'll have to hold one before I make the decision though. There's a lot of similar options out there in that market and I see a polymer gun as a utility device rather than a prized possession. If I get a P10S I'll probably not look at it as the former and have to get a non CZ brand as such.

I agree with you about polymer guns. I once had a Sig P250. Could not get used to it. I could always shoot my RAMI BD much more accurately. Gave it to my son-in-law. He shoots it much better than I did. I still can, on a good day, out shoot him with my RAMI.
My carry rotation, depending on weather and clothing, is RAMI BD, Sig P938 and Sig P238. All of them steel and, with the exception of the RAMI, the same manual of arms. None of these three will ever be sold while I can shoot them safely. Getting older so need to consider what might happen in the future.

Just sent my Rami back to CZ yesterday for the 2nd time. Purchased it in September and had failure to feed right from the start. Had it to the range twice after getting it back the first time. I figured maybe it just needed a good breaking in so I kept firing it. It has well over 500 rounds through it now. When I was at the range this past week it failed to feed 4 times in about 150 rounds. Love the gun but definitely disappointed.

Since it's pretty hot here I may consider rotating a polymer in my rotation just to keep sweat off the steel since it's about as useful as salted roads on vehicle subframes. The p-10 S does seem to pack a lot of value for the price, which are steadily increasing due to the pandemic and Biden gun war.

I don’t know if the Marquis de Sade designed the P10 or what, but instead of checkering or stippling on the grip handle, it’s got hundreds of little spikes that dig into your hand. Not comfortable at all, especially compared to the Rami / CZ75 pistol grip. I suppose you could grind down all the spikes with a file, but what a pain in the ass. Whoever designed that pistol grip was obviously a sadist...the tighter you grip it, the more pain you inflict on yourself.

I guess myself and most people and our “delicate” hands are so spoiled by the comfort and ergonomics of the Rami / CZ 75 grip contour that adding little spikes to the P10 seems like a stupid idea. Hell, why not fish hooks? I guess that’s why most people end up buying various grip sleeves, tape and sandpaper to remedy the grip texture of their P10. I’m not sure how you can improve on the CZ75 grip contour - unless you happen to be a masochist. But I don’t generally wear hair shirts or self-flagellate, either.

I don’t know, is willfully inflicting pain or discomfort on yourself when trying to shoot somebody a form of penance? Contrition during the commission of a sin?
