RAMI Magazine change techniques
« on: March 03, 2021, 12:33:32 PM »
Hi All,
I have been trying some magazines changes with my new RAMI.
The release is rather hard to reach with my gripping hand, and then the magazine catches on my palm.
So far, it has been easier to push the release with my supporting left hand. This does slow the reload down a bit, but the magazine drops clear.

Any suggestions or techniques I might try?

Thanks,
Tony

It's not easy, and depending on hand size, results will vary between shooters.

You are on the right track.  Experiment until you find a method that seems to be the best you can achieve.

Then practice until you improve that method.

An alternative approach would be to try magazine extensions/sleeves as discussed elsewhere on this forum.   That compromises ease of concealment, however.

Pushing release button with support hand is an option. I know few people who do this and they feel fully comfortable with it.
However to use your shooting hand's thumb, try to reorganize your grip a little when you coming back from extension to compress ready / work space - using your support hand, pull the front strap of the grip so the gun will change the angle and make the button fully accessible for your thumb.

To fix the issue with magazine not freely falling down - when you press mag release button, stick your pinky max out, so hand's palm won't adhere to the base plate. Turn the bottom of the grip out, then quickly back into your body and mag will fall down without any problems.
I've been using this trick with my M&P Shield and M&P 22 and this always works.
