Optic recommendations for a P-10 S?
« on: March 03, 2021, 11:21:16 AM »
Got a new P-10 S and have put a 100 rounds through it so far. This is my first polymer pistol experience. I just recently acquired my CCW and after owning a couple steel CZs (which I don't want to marr up from carry) it was a no brainer. Great trigger and seems to have low recoil oddly. Ok enough BLA BLA BLA.

TLDR:

I'm looking for a good optic in terms of profile size and visibility. This is carry gun so I can accept some concessions in keeping the size down.

Let me know what's worked for you!

Thanks

I've had good luck with Holosun 507/ 407C's
and 407K on a narrower slide...
If you can get over the made in china issue.
I'm really satisfied with my three.

I had a Holosun 507C on mine but it is wider than the P-10S slide width.  I have a 507k-x2 here to put on it as soon as the adapter plate arrives from CZ Custom.  The 507K-x2 is the right width.  Won't get to try it until next week, looks like now.

Vortex Venom Red Dot has a lower profile then some others and has a lifetime warranty.

If you have an OR, that should work. If you have a normal P10 S, no OR, you would need higher sights, I guess

Awesome. I see some of the Holosuns have an auto-on feature. Does not having that on a vortex make it a deal breaker?

I have a few and like the acro the best. The battery is nowhere near the Rmr but honestly I get over 6 months and I find it quicker to acquire the sight and like that it is enclosed. The Rmr is good as well if you can’t get past the battery on the acro but it is a little slower for me. I have them on several size pistols and it remains consistent.

Do you just leave it on for instant readiness? Can’t imagine in a defense situation you’d have time to think to turn it on. Curious about battery life.

Floridaman--When I get my 507k-x2 mounted on my P-10S, I'll make a short video.  Should be Sunday, I think.  My adapter plate was a few days later shipping from CZCustom than I expected.

Good question, I'm new to this. I saw Holosun auto ON on shack, but on this Venow I cannot find auto ON feature. The only auto mode is brightness. I hope someone will explain how this works. I think it should always be ON or auto ON otherwise does not make sense for EDC.

From manual: "The Venom red dot has two brightness modes, Auto and Manual. Auto mode will increase or decrease in brightness depending on the ambient lighting conditions. In auto mode, the unit will power down after 14 hours to save battery life. Manual mode is controlled by the up/down buttons and will not power down automatically."

I have no issue with always leaving it on provided the battery life is great and easy to access. Some I’ve seen have the batteries under the unit. I prefer to not buy from governments who hate our way of life, but like I said optics for a ccw are going to have concessions and compromises attached to them.

Got my CZCustom PT-9 plate for the OR P-10S today and installed it along with the 507K-x2 Holosun sight this afternoon.  I made a short video, should finish uploading by 3:35pm CST.  The only difficulty I had was that the M4 screws supplied with the sight are too long and will bottom out on the slide before the sight is tight.  I removed about 4 threads in length from the screws and the installation seems fine to me.  The CZCustom plate is a perfect fit on the pistol but it is aluminum so take it easy when tightening the sight screws.  I used a drop of blue Loctite on the threads of all four screws.

I won't get to shoot the pistol until Tuesday.  I bet I can zero it in less than 10 rounds and then go directly to the 100 yard range for a little long distance goodness with the little pistol.

I forgot to include this in the video, because I wasn't expecting it--I can see the factory P-10S sights through the Holosun 507k-x2 sight.  The little sight sits low enough to see the rear sight notch and about the top half of the orange front sight circle.  So I guess it cowitnesses just fine with no changes.  Another pleasant and unexpected advantage for the new sight and plate.
