S&W Shield Plus
« on: March 21, 2021, 06:57:07 PM »
Went to one of the local LGS’ and handled the new Shield. Big improvement to the 2.0 trigger. Thinking of picking one up if I can find one without a safety. This may replace my G43X. Anyone else thinking about one?

If they made one with a hammer sticking out the back I might consider it otherwise nope.

My Shield 1.0 has been a great carry pistol. The additional capacity of the Plus is a ...plus, but I have upgraded almost all my Shield mags with either Magguts or Taran Tactical extensions, which I imagine they will also do for the Plus.

I’d upgrade to a Plus but I have a 2nd PC Shield and a fair number of mags so probably won’t. But if searching for a first time, the Shield Plus should be a great pistol.

Had an original Shield years ago but sold it off. That was almost 9 years ago.  Definitely tempted.  Has just a tad bit wider grip which felt solid in the hand.

I’m getting to the point where I regret letting go of ANY firearm.

Buying/selling has been an illness. Wish I was one of those who never sold their guns.

I went to my LGS This past Thursday and checked out the Shield "Plus" They had thumb safety and no thumb safety available.
The pistol I walked out with is the new Walther PDP Full Size 4" 8) The trigger is phenomenal.
I'll stick with my Sig P365 for "Micro" carry.

I have a carried my Gen 1 Shield 9 since they forst came out. It has served me very well over the years. I have an M2.0 9 Shield and 45 as well. I have tried carrying several other guns over the years and the Shield just works best for me. I really prefer DA/SA, but there just isnt anything out there that works better than a Shield for me. I will check out the Shield plus for sure.

I gave the Sig P938 a chance, but it had a few problems and just couldn’t trust it like I can the Shield.

Congrats on the new pickup. I too on occasion carry the P365, typically for pocket carry.  My preference is for a shield sized gun for belt carry. Right now it’s a G43X.

I am just loving the competition in this high-capacity micro 9 segment. Let's hope Glock and maybe even CZ follow suit.

I recently purchased the same PDP. I am thinking about returning it.... As you said, great shooter, but the slide is a bit blocky. The ergonomics/balance of my p10C OR just seems to feel better to me.

M&P forum shows some people having issues with the (very) new gun.

Not sure how much is old and dependable, how much is new and yet to prove itself and how much is a blend of old and new and has yet to prove itself.

I'm old enough to remember when everyone complained the M39 S&W (single stack) 9MM didn't carry enough rounds and "we need more capacity" brought along all the double stack 9MM pistols.  Most of us remember just a few years back when so many people began to complain the double stacks were just too hard to hide and "we need a good single stack" pistol.  Now here we go converting single stack pistols into double stack pistols again.

Sometimes it's better to wait a couple years and let others fight with the factory to get a new gun straight.
I just keep wasting time and money on other brands trying to find/make one shoot like my P07 and P09.  What is wrong with me?

I watched one review on YouTube and there were some issues with the 13 round magazine follower hanging up. Other than that I haven’t read or watched anything negative about the new Shield plus. What kind of issues were they reporting?
